Thankfully, even without data, I could purchase a new plan using a USSD code from my network provider—one of those random codes I’ve memorized for times like this. It’s amazing how our phones can do so much more than we realize, offering solutions when we least expect them.

This reliance on my phone has significantly changed how I prepare for emergencies. I always keep a power bank handy, just in case I can’t access electricity but still need my phone.

Plus, memorizing key phone numbers and those handy USSD codes gives me a little extra peace of mind, especially if I need to use a different device for help. Seriously, my power bank has become my most valuable backup plan—like, I can’t imagine being caught without a charged phone when it matters!

While this definitely eases my anxiety, the truth is, humans aren’t always reliable, which can leave me feeling uncertain sometimes.
