E-sports: Gaming Beyond Boundaries

in Digital Lifestyle11 hours ago

E-sports, better known as electronic sports, is a form of entertainment that's widely adopted by gamers who seek tougher challenges from opponents who claim to be better than them, or far from them, and the likes. It's always an exciting means of enjoying sports because of the multiplayer features and the ability to set up a competition amongst the best of the best from different regions without anyone leaving the comfort of their house to partake in it.

Growing up, I've been a lover of games, making me a gamer, be it playing on the phone, video games, on my PC or Xbox, and the likes; it's always intriguing for me to entertain myself with that, and there are several types of games I played, from football to shooters games like Call of Duty and the likes. They're all usually intriguing. One thing I've come to notice is that playing alone can be boring sometimes, and in our quest for bigger challenges while still playing these games, eSports became the solution due to our access to compete with multiplayers from different walks of life, and below I list some of the types of e-sports we've.

  • First-person shooters (FPS): This is the type of e-sports that involves shooting and war front adventure, and games in this category I've played are Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and the likes.
  • Fighting games: These types of e-sports are also fun to play as you get to display your skills against people across the world. It involves fighting with either fists or weapons, and some of the games I've played in this category are Mortal Kombat 11, Street Fighter, Shadow Fighter, and the likes.
  • Sports Games: These are some of my favorites, being a sports person myself, and there are different games that adopt different types of sports, but the ones I've played are FIFA, PES, Dream League Soccer, FPL, Hive FPL, NBA 2K, and the like.
  • We've also got other types that I've not really explored much of, such as real-time strategy and multiplayer online battle arena.

All of these are awesome and enjoyable because of the aura of competition surrounding it; everyone wants to prove they're good, and this goes on to make people give it their all during the matches. I, for one, do the same, and trust me, playing among the best via this eSports goes on to improve my own game player because I learn from others and adopt their style.

Now it's worth noting that eSports have evolved beyond what it used to be in the past when it was first introduced, because now professional leagues and tournaments with big investors are being organized, which grant gamers the opportunity to not only play for fun but strive to be the best so they can win such tournaments and win the cash prize.

With all I've said above, I don't think I need to answer the question of if I love eSports or not, but then for the sake of this prompt, I'll respond by letting you know that I really love and enjoy eSports; it's a wonderful form of entertainment that I like, and since gaming is one of my hobbies, it makes my likeness for it increase.

Regarding if I participate in it or not, yes, I do participate in it. In fact, from the first time it was gradually being introduced to Java games back then, I've been playing it. It started with multiplayer, where we had to connect to the other parties via infrared, and then when it improved to Bluetooth, even now that things have advantages to playing over the internet,

I still play and enjoy it, and one of the notable ones people here on Hive can relate to is the Hive FPL league, which is also an eSports league with loads of tournaments and matches to be played throughout the season, and where the overall winners get a mouthwatering prize at the end of the tournament. Others are Call of Duty, which I've played with some Hivers whom I've not met in person, and Dream League Soccer.

That's about it on my likeness for e-sports and the joy I derived from playing; it's always exciting and a perfect getaway from some of the struggles and trouble of the physical world, although it has little challenges, especially in terms of bad internet networks, which can lead to your game lagging and ultimately make you lose if your opponent doesn't experience the same or vice versa, but aside from the issues of internet network problems, I don't think this faces any other major challenges, so it's a great concept that I love, and I'm always excited to see someone who challenges me to a duel on it.
