Technology is almost everywhere starting from how we get information and communicate right to how we entertain ourselves or even seek assistance in case of an emergency. Something simple as making a phone call, searching for a way when one is lost using the Google map, or relating with oir friends and family on thr social media space is all made possible with the help of technology. technology at its best has actually made our lives so easy even when things get tough.
I had an instance when I had to use technology to escape what might have been a dangerous situation for me one night. I had been the driver for most of the night after an occasion and was on the way back home, I actually attended a marriage ceremony in my home town and after thr marriage i decided to visit my mom and stay for a little while while coming back home it was late when my car developed a breakdown in the middle of a dark street which had no electricity and no signal. Frustration soon developed into sheer panic when I had to stay in the car with no way to look for help since there was none around.
Fortunately I had my smartphone on me and immediately I called call a friend who live near by and told me what I needed to do next and he said help would be arriving shortly. During the period that I was waiting for help, I was able to examine the extent of the damages on my car by switching on the flashlight that is in the handset of the phone while checking for other dangers before getting stranded on the road side.
At the same time, I used my smart phone to call my family letting them know my situation. I used the text messages and social media platforms to brief them on my location and that I was still waiting for help. Many people who I am close to called and wanted to help me feel comforted and supported me when I was in a potentially weak position.
At long last the tow truck turned up and I was able to have my car taken to a local garage for repair. Looking at this experience, I began to wonder how much I rely on technology to move around during emergencies. I was thinking what if u didn't have a smartphone, what will this world be without Technology, we use it everyday to check for updates on the Internet to stay informed and communicate with other across the globe. Finally I was able to get my car fixed that night, thought I pay double because of the time and distance the mechanic had to come from, I was satisfied because leaving my car in the middle of nowhere in this kind of world won't have been the best idea, but thanks to technology who saved the day.
In this modern world where everything is dominated by technology, it has become impossible to imagine emergencies without it. Whether it be having a smartphone to get medical help, going online to identify specific information, owning smartphones for communication and map applications, technology is a valued tool when the unexpected arises.
