Securing the Jobs in the midst of AI Mayhem

in Digital Lifestyle4 days ago (edited)

With the continuous growth of AI and automation, a number of jobs could be in trouble or completely eliminated as a result. This blog post will be looking at the jobs most vulnerable to takeover by AI, new career paths emerging in AI and other related fields, and how to make sure your career survives the changing world of work.

Let's first understand what careers are

What is a career?

A career is basically the summation of what you do for a living. It's not just about the unique job you are doing, but the abilities and skills you've acquired along the way. And with the advancement of AI at a rapid speed, it's really worth considering how job roles might be switched with AI activities and lifelong professions in the future.

Which jobs will AI threaten?

Well, the bottom line is that jobs that involve doing a lot of similar tasks are the first ones to quickly get taken over by AI and robots.

For example, consider transportation. The truck drivers have to drive on the road for hours, doing almost the same job over and over again day in and day out. Furthermore, the warehouse worker and the assembly worker who follow set techniques in their jobs could easily be replaced with machines.

And it's not just that. Retail cashiers are already feeling the squeeze as more stores are using automation self-checkout lanes and touchscreen kiosks to place fast food orders. Changes like these are occurring rapidly and are bound to affect other types of jobs.

While some jobs will become extinct, other AI-related jobs will step in. Programming and developing the technology of AI itself, such as device control or data analysis, are some rather demanding technical skills and will be for the foreseeable future, at least practically a human job. At the same time, we may find a rising demand for what could be called an "artificial intelligence coordinator" to supervise these automated systems and fix any glitches or updates emerging with them. Then, specialized developers and web designers may be required to make user-friendly interfaces for people working with AI assistants.

Of course, content creators will still be very essential in churning out educational content, documentation, and various materials that will enable AI to be used in a desirable way. And in health care, responsibilities requiring complex human judgment and abilities, such as mental health care, aged care and rehabilitation, will continue to need human professionals. Artificial intelligence will support them-but not replace them. So by upgrading your skills in these expanding sectors, you'll be able to transition your career with ease to complement changing labor market needs.

While many of these jobs might be taken up, acquiring uniquely human skills could save your career choices. For instance, robust verbal exchange, such as in customer service, solving complex problems using intuition and logic, and critical thinking in social settings are still fields where AI could not take.

Log analysis, cybersecurity, cloud architecture. these are some of the most important skills that enable humans to use artificial intelligence safely. In terms of organization, entertainment, and art, simply no replacement is possible in respect of human expression and creativity. Lastly, not to mention coaching and mentoring across spectrums, which require a certain amount of empathy that only human beings can achieve at a minimum for now.

The huge question now would be, will AI step in and do all the content writing gigs? AI is good enough in churning out simple and generic articles, but for more technical or complicated creative content and connecting with audiences, we humans win the day. We have a certain uniqueness that a machine lacks; storytelling ability, human understanding of what makes us human, all these qualities machines cannot replicate.

Of course, an AI tool can create a sample of content, but finishing it with a human touch, ironing out the errors, and making the content speak to real people, not just algorithms, will require a human being. For as long as the content material requires human expertise, writers who keep improving their skills, become experts in their fields, and know what different readers are all about will be relevant in the midst of AI mayhem.

To sum it up, though some more mundane writing may be available, there actually are quite a number of jobs that AI can't replace: AI development jobs, jobs relating to surveillance, package delivery jobs; the list goes on and on. Jobs that require special people skills, including problem-solving, creativity, and emotional intelligence, might be here to stay.

Staying on top of a profession when everything is changing involves being one step ahead. Be quality but reasonable, too. Keep the saw sharp: keep up with demand, collect certifications. Be flexible, always investigating and learning with a growth mindset. That is the prevailing combination in trying to experience the technology wave.

Honestly if all these jobs are replaced, a lot of people will be jobless and find it difficult to feed. I think before such will happen they should find an alternative or a solution to those they will make jobless.

Everyone needs to fight for a place in the job market, and the solution is simple - upgrade your skills especially in job area where AI can't perform.

Nice solution

I believe that A.I as much of a threat can also be considered of great use. I read somewhere that humans can either change with the times and learn how to use A.I to their advantage (especially now that we have become too comfortable and hardly use our brains for anything anymore) then they become redundant

The fact is that AI isn't supposed to be a threat to humans, but to compliment and make work easier for us. We are seeing it as threats today because many people fear innovation and doesn't want to upgrade their work skills.

My thoughts exactly. Honestly, change is a scary thing but it must happen and people who refuse it end up in the mud
