Technology To The Rescue

in Digital Lifestyle23 hours ago (edited)

In today’s world, there’s nothing one can’t find on the internet. From cooking recipes,to solutions for your basic household problems and even fashion tips. There’s literally nothing the internet can’t help you with. Are you having a problem working on your assignment? Just talk to Dr google or Dr Chatgpt and you’re good to go. But, with all these positives, the internet also has its negatives. Not everything on the internet is right and I think it will take a while for people to realise that.

The information we find on the internet is placed there by other people so, not everything we get from the internet, especially AI is right. Regardless, there’s a lot of help from the internet in one way or the other. Personally, there’s a lot I have learnt from the internet. I literally survived many incidents with the help of the internet. I’ve even googled meal ideas on days I didn’t know what to eat and many more weird stuff you can think of. Among all these ways the internet has helped me out, there’s this one experience that stands out for me with my experience with the internet/technology. During my university days , I think it was my third year if I remember correctly. With my course, the least number of courses we take per semester is 8 but most of the time, we take 10 courses per semester. So, you can imagine how tough it must have been for us.

The worst part of all this is that, the lecturers are literally after your life and waiting for your downfall. They can even give you an F for no reason and you can’t do anything about it. I’m sure most of us have come across such lecturers in our school life. Then, there’s those boring lecturers no one wants to sit for their lectures and trust me, we had a lot of those in our department. You know how they say when you’re in first year you’re serious students but once you start going ahead you start to grow horns, there’s no lie in that in a way. Most of my course mates grew horns and started missing those boring lectures.

On one particular hot day, we decided to be late for one boring lecture we were to have. The lecturer was so boring you could literally sleep throughout the lecture. Due to this, most of us would usually come in for the lecture late. But that day, our lecturer decided to surprise us with a test. He even printed out papers and all and he came to meet only 10 students. We had to run from our various hostels to get to the class and the funny part was that, the lecturer allowed us sit for the test.

It’s like he had his own agenda because tell me what these questions I’m seeing are. He even allowed us to use our phones and that was the time chatgpt came about.I hopped on to chatgpt to find answers and I was more than happy to copy my answers from there. I even shared with my friends to write since we thought it was accurate. This isn’t your usual rosy story where AI provides you with the correct answers.

We finished our test and when the results came a few days later I didn’t even make half of the total mark. I was even shy to show my paper to others cos it was a disaster. I wouldn’t want to tell my score because I don’t want you to make fun of me but, just know it was a disaster. Since then, I always made sure to be ready for any test in case of anything. I decided to rely on technology during this academic emergency and it turned out to be a disaster. I learned my lesson the hard way.
