Shopping online is not something I've really indulge myself in, so I've never really had any bad experience or so much good experience shopping online either.
The first time I decided to order something online without knowing the vendor personally (it wasn't a friend or a family member) was in 2024.
I'm a girl who loves reading a lot, but I've only been reading e-books since I started my reading journey. I wanted a change. I wanted to own a physical book, read it, and then keep it as a trophy with me. I wanted to start building my own library.
At that time, I was part of a book club on WhatsApp. A girl in the book club posted some set of books she got recently and that too, at a cheap rate. I messaged her, asking who her vendor was, and she didn't hesitate to send me her vendor's number.
So I saved the vendor's number, then placed order for 2 books. I had to pay for the books and delivery fee before delivery, it was her policy. So I made the payment.
She informed me that dispatch days were every Tuesdays and Thursdays (I made the payment on Monday, so I was sure my books would leave on Tuesday)
But even after sending her my payment receipt, she told me she hasn't received it. I was shocked because I used Opay and Opay is usually fast with their transactions
I just told her to let me know when she sees it.
Only for her to message me on Tuesday evening (since Monday) that she has seen it. I was like, this one that this girl is just telling me she has received the money, I hope she sent my books out today. But I said nothing to her, just okay.
I was just hoping my books will arrive soon. It was supposed to take just 2 to 3 days for me to get the books, but it was Thursday already, and nothing, no call from a dispatch rider or the logistics company she used.
I messaged her, because she don't take calls, only for her to tell me that it was that day, Thursday, she sent the books out because she did not receive my payment on time.
I did not argue. My own was, I should just receive the books I ordered.
Monday came, nothing. No book was delivered.
I messaged her again. It's been one week since I made the payment. Why have I still not received my books?. She told me she sent it to the wrong address, and apologised.
I was already starting to think this lady is a scam, but just that, she hasn't blocked me yet, so maybe it was really a mistake
I said, "Okay", she said she'll go to the logistics company and then send it to me on Tuesday since dispatch days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Since she was yet to send the books out, I paid for two extra books for her to add to my first order so that I won't have to pay delivery fee later again for them. Even though I was already having doubts about her.
On Tuesday, she told me she had sent my books already and that the logistics company would call me, and I would have to go pick it up. I said no problem. I did not know where it was, but I just wanted my books.
That's how Friday came oo, no call or text from the logistics company.
I messaged this girl again, I was already angry, thinking she had scammed me of my money. But she told me that my books would already be there, she dont know why they didn't call me but other people have gone to pick up theirs. She told me to just go there.
I didn't want to, because the transport fare was cost and what if I get there and they say they didn't receive my package. Wasted transport fare and time then. My house to the company was 45 minutes. To and fro is about 95 minutes.
But I went anyway, I already paid so much money for the books.
Getting there, the books I ordered really were there, and it was the logistics company that didn't just call to inform me that my package had arrived.
I was extremely happy receiving them 😊, I was excited about opening up the package 📦 once I got home.
I got home and had my siblings' video my reaction as I open the books up.
And to my surprise, they were in absolute great condition and it was exactly what I ordered. The books were nice and the cover was not just some fake paperback, it was really pretty.
I could not stop smiling. I messaged Hazelbooks to let her know I got the books and that I loved them.
She apologised again for causing me worry.
Since then, I've been ordering my books from her because she delivers what she displays.
That has been my only online shopping experience, and it wasn't bad at all. I've actually been happy shopping with her since then. ☺️ 😌

It's very hard for me to patronise any individual platform, where I need to call and type out my life in text before receiving my item. It gets me sick 🥲
But shopping online is actually very stressfree and easier
Wait, you mean you paid for a first batch, and even when you hadn't gotten them, you paid for more?
Please I want to buy courage. 30k own. Is it available?😂
😂😂 yeahh. That's what I did.
It was not a good idea but I was also thinking what if she's legit and her books turns out good.
I have courage of 30k, yes 😂😂
You should have seen me sitting upright just to anticipate the part where you got scammed. I’m glad you got your books in good condition.
😂😂😂 I'm glad I wasn't scammed. I would literally cried 😂
