Hi beautiful people. It's my first time writing here, I couldn't help but jump on the topic when I saw it, although I didn't see it on time.
I've had both good and bad experiences with shopping online, although I haven't shopped so much online, but some experiences stood out for me that I would love to share.
So in 2018, I lost my smartphone in a vehicle while in transit, I was really devastated as I couldn't afford to be without a phone at that period because I needed it for my project work that I was carrying out.
After mourning the loss of the phone, I decided to gather some money that I had been keeping away for a while to get a phone. This was the first I would be getting a phone for myself by myself, as previously I had always gotten a phone as a gift from either my dad or my aunt, so this was really a big deal for me.
I didn't really have time to go to a physical store to get the phone, so I asked my friend to help me order online from a particular online shopping website, he accepted and made the order according to my choice. All I had to do was wait for the day I would receive my order.
On the day of the delivery, I was so excited as I was going to get a new phone, I couldn't control my excitement, you know how it can be being without a phone for a while. Upon arrival of the delivery guy, I signed off the phone, and I felt like I had just won the lottery. After setting up the phone, I plugged it in to charge, you know how we are advised to charge first before using the device?
I noticed that it took a very long while to get full, but I thought maybe it was because it was the first time, but as days progressed and I observed it, I confirmed that the charger was really slow, at some point it even stopped charging and I didn't really know how to go about the return and my friend that helped me had traveled so I found another charger to use. Unlucky for me, the phone was stolen from me a week or two after I bought it. I guess the phone was not meant to stay with me, because how do you explain all of the events surrounding it?
The other online buying experience I had which was a good one is more recent. So I needed a wardrobe in my room for some time now, I had been on the lookout to get one. I tried going to get a new one made for me, but it was really expensive, so I was checking the ones that were fairly used so I could get one.
One day I decided to check for the prices of new wardrobes on a particular online marketplace, and I saw different prices for different sizes from different sellers, I then reached out to one of the sellers when I saw that he had something I liked, he responded to me swiftly, answered all of the questions I asked, sent me pictures of what he had. After all, I decided to patronize him.
He said it was pay-on delivery, so I waited for him to deliver, he got stuck in traffic and took a while to get to me, at some point, I got weary after waiting for a while, but my joy was that I hadn't made payment already, because if I had I would have really stressed myself out with worry.
After hours of waiting, he finally came and I was able to get my wardrobe, I inspected it, and it was to my satisfaction, so I made the transfer to him, there were network issues, and my bank app wasn't really working, so I had to use USSD, and I ended up sending him more than what I was supposed to and I didn't even know. The next day the vendor called and said that it seemed I did a certain transfer twice, and that I should cross-check what I sent, it was then I noticed that indeed I sent twice, I had to call him back to confirm his suspicion and he asked that I send my account details, and immediately he sent back the money, I couldn't stop thanking him. I could not believe that such honest people still existed.
