Like you said, it depends on the use case.
You did the right thing returning that laggy phone. It would've stressed you out. I'm surprised they took it back though. What did you tell them exactly?
For me, photography is one of my favorite aspects of any phone I use, so the camera is usually the first thing I consider, then I look at other things.

And for the return , the slot I bought it from usually give people 5 days opportunity to swap the phone to another type but with extra charges. So what I did was add up the money to the type of phone I want and pay the charges for returning the previous purchase
