At the beginning I want to say a few words about what awaits you in this article. All my personal experience for more than a year of playing in Farming Tales, some useful hints and thoughts about game are collected here. I focused on practical tips/questions - that's why I think post will be useful for both beginners and those who have been playing for a while. However, you should already be familiar with the basic concepts of the game.
If you are a 100% beginner, start studying the project with the basic mechanics of the game. For this you can:
- Check out other articles in the Farming Tales Community on Hive.blog - there are some really cool “New Player Guides” for example this one (all “pinned” articles are really good!).
- Join the Discord community and visit the New-Player-Info section - it contains all the necessary links for beginners, including YouTube videos.
- Those interested in reading the Whitepaper can find it here.
This is the first step for beginners. Without it, almost all the information from this article will not be clear to you.
So, let's go directly to the question - How to optimize your farm? I would divide it into 2 directions:
- Efficient organization of the farm.
- Optimization of gameplay and earnings.
Farm organization
_Here we take a look at the most important questions about optimizing your farm. _
Silo / Water Tower upgrade
In my opinion, this is the most useful update on the farm, which you should focus on from the very beginning. You pay the same amount for Silo / Water Tower refills regardless of capacity - 5 CBIT (food) and 50 CBIT (water). But if you have epic buildings, you get more food/water when replenishing:
Calculate how best to take this step - through blending, purchase or exchange of goods. But playing with basic Silo / Water Tower NFTs is not profitable - upgrade them.
Buy/Stake SEST for CBIT?
The CBIT token is used to water the garden, feed animals and harvest legendary buildings. You can stake SEST to get free CBIT on your account. However, I personally would not buy it specifically for this purpose.
At the moment my 30k SEST gives me 3 CBIT per day, which does not cover the farm costs at all.
For this 30k SEST you could now buy a 1 Rare/Epic vegetable garden and grow something for sale in a week.
To supply the needs of my farm in CBIT I would need to spend a lot of Wax. But it is much more effective to invest it in the development of the farm itself. That's why I buy CBIT.
Buying SEST for the future is smart, but definitely not for staking for CBIT. Perhaps it is even better to stake it for the new token - AUREUS.
Common VS Epic Animals
There are 2 main nuances here - mathematics and convenience.
Speaking of speed, it all depends on the animal - Common Pig, for example, produces 1 time every 3 hours, which is a normal frequency compared to chickens/cows.
In a day you will collect approximately the same amount of products in general. For example, Common Pig gives you 5-6 Pork Meat (for 5-6 times), for Rare Pig - 6 Pork Meat (for 3 times). At the same time on AtomicHub 2 Rare Pigs = 3 Common Pigs.
So 3 NFT will allow to collect more products per day! But Common, Rare and Epic use the same amount of food (CBIT):
This is where the math begins - you need to calculate what income/losses you will have + the result depends on whether you get CBIT from staking or buy.
Personally, I started with Common and gradually upgraded to a better level, which is a pretty fun part of the gameplay.
Voucher and Blend System
The developers recently introduced a new blend/voucher mechanism for NFT upgrades. This is a great opportunity to develop and optimize the farm without external investment!
The most I like the upgrade option with 1 NFT + vouchers. Yes, it takes longer, but you don't lose part of your NFTs. Let's use the example of Stables.
My strategy was to fill the entire farm of Common Stables and then upgrade them as possible. In that case I do not depend on the fluctuation of the price of Common Stable (which can change at any moment, as was recently in the game).
If you have enough free space on the farm, then I don't see the point of "exchange" 10 Common NTF for 5 Rare, and then buy another 5 more Common later. Also, most of the time it's cheaper than a blend of two NFTs.
It's cool that devs made a new Blend System and Vouchers - this is one way to burn basic resources + it's fun. I managed to do 1 NFT upgrade per day, and after 2-3 weeks the farm became much cooler, which made me very happy.
Here's an article about blend where you can find some approximately numbers for vouchers and blends.
I craft common vouchers and then make them rare, if needed.
The Legendary Ambar
It all depends on the size of your farm and your ambitions. For example - I successfully crafted a Wheatfield with Rare Barn for 500 slots.
But it was not very convenient. In addition, you need to be careful not to overdo it with the contents of the Barn, because you can lose products. It happened to me 1-2 times.
Now I've upgraded the barn to 1500, which is super convenient + gives you the opportunity to accumulate products. This step will be useful for active players and will help you earn more. But again, it all depends on the size of your farm - a 1000 item Epic Barn is normal for start.
Animals VS Vegetable Garden
If you look at the prices of some of the food Chests on Atomichub, of course you'd say that gardens are more profitable. However, there are a few points you need to pay attention to:
- The cheapest Vegetable Garden will cost you just over $10. It will give only 1 product in 3 days. Epic Garden with three seeding slots - $20.
- The garden needs seeds - they are not cheap for popular products.
- You can buy Seeds Box hoping for luck and stocking up on unnecessary seeds. I don't know how profitable it is because it's random.
- If you want to receive seeds constantly - buy Greenhouse, which gives a box every day. 30 days = 30 boxes, in fact ROI – 4 months :)
- If you bought yourself a Greenhouse, you can actually provide seeds for no more than 3-5 Epic Gardens.
- Do not forget about 50 CBIT to replenish the Water Tower.
Consider all these points when you want to start working with gardens. I would advise to develop both animals and gardens in parallel - no one knows what will happen next.
Special/Legendary Buildings
Farming Tales currently has the following Special Buildings:
They are useful in the long term, but it all depends on their price. If we are not talking about Vineyard, then everything is not so critical - on AtomicHub you can find most products at quite reasonable prices.
In the game, everything changes over time. For example, after the launch of New Waxchester, the Wood Box people were selling for $20, and during the Wheatfield Quest, prices for Peaches and Olives started at $100! Now all prices have decreased.
There are three things I can say about Legendary Buildings:
- It all depends on how you got them - if you crafted them from your own materials and/or spent a small investment, that's great. If you bought NFT on AtomicHub at a high price, it may take a long time to recoup the costs.
- The need for Legendary products depends on your game strategy and goals. For active players, having Special Buildings is a plus - it saves money and it is convenient.
- For further Quests you will definitely need Legendary products. If you already have several Special Buildings, then maybe there is no point in buying any more. You can always try to craft them or exchange products.
Optimization of gameplay and earnings
At first, I wanted to divide this block into 2 parts, but while writing it, I realized that earning and organizational tasks are very closely related. In addition, it should be noted that all these questions are extremely important - they may affect your income even more than the size of the farm!
Discord is the key
Joining the Farming Tales group on Discord and following all the discussions is a must-have first step! You need to be aware of all the latest trends, developers' plans for the future, and more. Follow all the announcements - there are sometimes very important hints for the development of your farm: the necessary set of products for the quest, the thoughts of the developers about further changes in the gameplay.
Discussions in the general chat are sometimes no less important than announcements. For example, once the admins wrote that in the next quest they will actively use Corn, there were also mentions of the developers about the importance of Gardens/Seeds, etc.
Plus:
- Don't forget about the Suggestion section where you can offer your idea for game development.
- There was a time when the community pointed out to the developers about the not-so-good sale of legendary NFTs at discounted prices, and it was canceled.
- Community can help with the exchange of products.
- In the "Events" - "Auction" section you can buy NFTs for SEST tokens. Sometimes you can find a pretty good deal there.
Farming Tales Discord is power!
Math
Earlier in the article, I said several times that your decisions depend on your current situation: budget, farm size, number of NFTs, number of SBIT/SEST tokens, availability of legendary products, etc.
In Farming Tales, you can use different development and earning strategies - you need to calculate any decision to see if it is profitable for you, such as buying a legendary building, blending animals, harvesting with Common NFT at the current price of CBIT, etc.
Here is the simplest example for you. In the game you can craft a Vegetable Garden:
But if you calculate the cost of the seeds that need to be purchased (if you don't have them), the total costs will be more than buying this NFT on AtomicHub.
Think ahead
Try to think your strategy in advance. Analyze the announcement or some event that may affect the development of the game.
For example, if there will be a quest soon, then do not rush to sell products from the gardens - perhaps one of the products will be in great demand and its price will increase.
Recently, this was the case with Sunflower - when the production cost of Sunflower Chest was about $2.5 (the price on AtomicHub was $5-7), people traded it for Chest grapes ($80+) or sold it for $40.
Another example - now the developers have announced the next quest for the Peach Tree.
- Therefore, with an increase in the number of NFTs, the price of products should fall, so it is not surprising that some are already actively starting to sell their trees.
- Plus, it might make sense to pay attention to the goods from Grass that may be needed for the quest.
Of course, this is only an assumption, but you can prepare for it.
Earning on quests / products
At the moment I don't think you can make good money selling items for SEST or AtomicHub when there is no demand for them. The only normal way to earn money is through quests!
Based on this logic, I can advise the following:
- Take part in the quest and try to craft some NFT, even the Barn Voucher has a decent price.
- Produce goods that are in demand during quests. After buying 5 sunflower seeds for $2 bucks, you could sell "Sunflower Chest" for $20-30 a couple of days ago.
- Stock up on the most interesting goods for the next quests (even the basic ones may increase in price).
Trade/exchange on Discord
This is a mega useful discovery for me. In the Trade section of Discord, you can buy, sell and trade goods more profitably than on AtomicHub. This is what these messages look like:
Here:
- WTT – Want to trade.
- WTB – Want to buy.
- WTS – Want to sell.
Here's an example of one of my exchanges:
- I initially crafted 12 Wheat Chest (they were cheap then).
- Then I exchanged them for 1 Peaches Chest.
- After that I found a cheap but valuable Small Fence NFT on the market + added 1 Peach Chest and some more Wheat -> and traded -> for a Grape Chest (which cost about $130 in that time).
As for WTS (Want to sell) offers - people sell goods cheaper than on AtomicHub, because you can directly get rid of the site's commission - this is the so-called "backed" sale. Be sure to google this topic. In short:
- You can "add" Wax tokens to some cheap NFT.
- Exchange it for the desired product.
- When burning it, the user receives the corresponding number of backed Wax tokens.
- The result is 0% commission!
But in general, be careful when trading and exchanging - double-check all information, your calculations and the user you are negotiating with.
Services for optimizing the game process
At the moment, there are several projects that allow you not only to track the amount of products in the Barn, but also to harvest and complete quests. I won't list them all, but I'll just mention the one that was officially introduced in Discord Farming Tales - ChainFLEX.
Main advantages of this project:
- Functionality here is maximum, as you can see.
- Since it is officially presented by the developers, this is the most secure project out there, in my opinion.
- In the Discord chat, I see a lot of communication from developers about improving the project, fixing bugs, etc. - it's very cool.
There is actually a mass harvesting feature in the game itself, but I don't recommend using it at all. When using it, the costs in CBIT will be maximum and it will simply not be profitable for you.
In general, I am quite worried about security, so the ideal option for me would be to develop an independent program, but for now there is not enough time and knowledge. Therefore, I think ChainFLEX is the optimal choice. Or just play the game.
Investments are needed
Unfortunately, you won't be able to start the game with 2-3 NFTs without additional investment if you want to earn income in the near future. To earn here you need to compete with other players in the market, produce some legendary products or take part in quests. It is impossible to do all this without additional purchases and upgrading the farm.
Here is another simple example. When you take part in a quest and have managed to make 80% of the required products, it is quite normal to invest an additional $50-$80 to get a legendary building, harvest it or sell it on AtomicHub.
But do not forget to evaluate the risks and all the nuances - see what the circulation of NFT is, what its function is, what is the state of the crypto-market and the game itself, etc. Invest carefully and wisely.
Have fun!
The last piece of advice for today is to have fun, really. If you don't enjoy the game, then what's the point of spending time here anyway? :) Yes, it's p2e, but there are a lot more effective ways to earn money in offline and crypto.
With the release of New Waxchester, the game has reached a new level - I really enjoy the process itself. And there is room for development - partnerships, mini-games, metauniverse, events, etc.
The game has a pretty cool and active community, the developers continue to work, and this all inspires optimism for the future. I hope everything will be fine and I wish everyone a good game in Farming Tales.
