My contribution to #fungifriday by @ewkaw
This Friday I found a slightly odd mushroom, it's chewy like jelly and stuck to a living tree, they form a small group, and they seem to be old
Red-eared red ear mushroom (Auricularia auricula-judae, synonyms Auricularia auricula, Hirneola auricula-judae) is one of the species of the class Heterobasidiomycetes (jelly fungi) with a reddish-dark brown fruit body and shaped very similar to the human earlobe.
The fruiting body has a chewy texture and in nature grows on dead tree trunks that are wet and damp.
Red ear mushrooms in dry form are commonly used in various Asian dishes.
wikipedia
The top part of this mushroom is white like chalk, and also looks a little hairy like other mushrooms, but their shape is a bit like a human ear, and also springy like an ear, but the bottom is red, this is what makes this mushroom unique, and here are some pictures that i managed to get
According to sources, this mushroom is often used as a food ingredient in my area, but I have never tried to eat mushrooms, whatever the type, but they are consumed when they are young, not as seen in the picture above, some wrinkles are starting to appear on the top of this mushroom. and I think they're old and probably only got to live a few more days
That's all I can share for #fungifriday this time, see you again and have a happy new year
