Fungi Kingdom

Magandang buhay!

Waking up to a beautiful morning and as always, we are grateful for this chance to see the light of a new day and enjoy much of life and everything else🙏

Well, it's Friday so it's time to showcase some of my fungi finds. Yes, this gal hunts not only shadows and reflections but also magical things sprouting from the ground🍄🤓

For instance, the tiny beauties found a few days ago while we were on the dirt path going to the hillside. They come in different textures, shapes, sizes, and colors too! Some were in pairs, others in groups like families.

And a few seem to be partners but having an LQ they are near yet keeping some distance😅

It's fascinating to find them all at that particular spot on the path as if they were trying to form a kingdom (or a community if we can call it such).

For some reason, we didn't notice them last time or perhaps they just germinated this week. It rained a few times this month so it may have initiated their growth as the soil became moist.

I love this in particular, they are like a close-knit family :)

Are they edible?

I guess not! They are for the eyes only, meant to be appreciated, not to be consumed, lol! Unlike last time, we didn't touch or pick any of these. We would love to check them in the next few days to see what changes, especially after yesterday's rain.

While we have been taking pictures of mushrooms, we never really knew how they come about. Our quick search made us learn they are not plants but belong to a distinct kingdom known as fungi. Their lifecycle has the following main stages:

  • Mushroom Spores
  • Germination
  • Mycelium development (the main body of a mushroom)
  • Fruiting body formation

The spores are reproductive cells released into the air that germinate when favorable conditions occur and form thread-like structures (mycelium) which then grow and develop into the fruiting body (this is what we see above the ground).

Some more interesting information:

In ancient Greece and Rome, people considered mushrooms to be the food of the gods, and ancient Egyptians reserved them for pharaohs.¹

Mushrooms are considered nature's recyclers because they decompose organic material, break down pollutants, and improve soil health.²

Mushrooms are more closely related to animals than plants on the evolutionary tree.³

Well, this has been a learning adventure for us and we will be reading more about the wonders of fungi and may share them on our next hunt. Until then, have a fabulous day (night) wherever you may be.

This, by the way, is my contribution to FungiFriday by ewkaw. Thank you for this initiative and space.

The fact that some of these mushrooms are not edible gives me bugging thoughts...why the poison living in them? Lol😂

But these ones looks edible though 😎

Nice shots

That I can't answer, !LOL

They look tender and fragile so may easily break if one attempts to cook them😅

How often should you tell chemistry jokes?
Periodically.

@kingsleyy, I sent you an

I love your cover-up point, but the edible ones are as soft as this 😂

After the rain, if there's enough humidity, you should see more of them

Yes, they seem to love humid spaces. I think we are going to see more around

Mushrooms are beautiful in my eyes and I also want to take pictures of those but I hardly notice the appearance of mashrooms.
Hehe. you shared the knowledge of the life cycle of mushrooms and it reminded me of the time when I was studying mushrooms.

Mushrooms tend to grow in moist spots, decaying logs, or in the woods, hehe!

When mushrooms grow into a certain land, maybe the soil there is healthy😌. Or they were there to improve the soil😌.

Siguro nga sis. Kakaaliw din mga natututunan sa pagha-hunt hehe

This mushroom is not edible as it's very light, just a little squeeze and it's gone lol. I think I've seen a couple of them in the farm
!lady

Haha, that's a nice way to distinguish mushrooms, lol!

Thank you, it was nice to have found them. Enjoy your weekend :)

Ohhh foods for the gods...

Didn't know that but of information...

Happy Fungi Friday

Haha, yep. That was new info for me too. Cheers!

The appearance of this mushroom is like an umbrella that collects rainwater. good discovery my friend 👍

Thank you. They are quite a sight :)

It's true as what you said, the type of mushroom is not classified as a type of plant, there are indeed some types of mushrooms that can be eaten or consumed, but you display this mushroom very well if you look at it from a close distance.
My friend's cool find 💗

I didn't even know how to classify mushrooms until recently. It's interesting that they are considered to be more on the animal kingdom than plants.

Thank you for your kind remarks :)

!LUV

Are they edible?

some say that all mushrooms are edible, and some of them are only edible once.
!LOLZ

but yeah, you gotta be careful choosing which mushroom to eat, as it might be the last meal you have.
the good one can be a good topping for !PIZZA

Did you hear about the Irish guy who was assasinated at the antique store?
