Final Hurrah

in Proof of Brain3 days ago

In terms of expectations, 2025 is a lackluster year, most of the interesting events I read about that were predicted could happen this year didn't end up coming into reality.

Despite the incredible progress made with AI, it still can't maintain coherence and memory is still quite short term compared to human memory, I think the replication game of the human brain is yet to be achieved, if it ever will be.

In this corner of the crypto space, market euphoria didn't materialize as expected, especially the reasoning that it would happen some time in Q4.

I'm no longer holding my breath for that, even though there are plausible arguments that market euphoria has been postponed next year for the final hurrah before almost everything market related starts trending downwards, time will tell.

Some time around mid year, I kind of bought into the argument/prediction that WW3 will start before the year ends, this didn't happen at least to the scale expected but the signs are already on the wall about what might happen.

I think WW3 could be relatively different in a lot of ways from WW2, given the tech available now, but this is just a thought, humans will always be humans first, then try playing god with technology.

I did took a slower pace with personal development(PD) for the most part of this year, the constant desire to be better according to xyz standards was muted after I reduced my consumption of PD content quite a lot.

Of course, this year was the year I listened to a lot of podcasts, almost once a day spaning from finance to health, science, tech, geopolitics, culture, philosophy, etc.

Podcasts are really a good way to expand my horizons on what is instead of just wondering what could be.

As alluded to from a prior post, my creative brain shutdowned sometime in December, lucky for me it's the last month of the year. The remaining 11 months range around a spectrum of creative immersion, sometimes with more activity, other times less.

The only constant was writing everyday and looking back now I think I've lost why I decided to write everyday some time in the earlier part of the year. I do enjoy writing, especially the in between moments when I have to sit and scan my brain for ideas mid sentence/paragraph, what's the right word here, how can I say it differently or in a more relatable easy way, what kind of examples can I find, etc.

Truth be told, the days I feel like writing are less than the days I didn't feel like writing, and the days were I neither felt like writing nor didn't felt like writing were much more.

Meditation helps, it usually comes before my first writing session, so it's relatively easier to get it done with that background self-awareness.

I also only sketched(hand drawing) a little compared to my expectations, relatively consistent since May but the last few weeks has been zero work done on this front.

Above all, I'm grateful to have witnessed this year with all ups and downs and in between phases, the challenges to adapt, lessons learned from those and letting go of what was and welcoming what could be, one day at a time.

Thanks for reading, and Happy New Year, I hope you have a wonderful suprising year ahead :)

That sounds a little like a gap year, like you took a step back and let life settle a little - that, too, is necessary. I wish you a great 2026 full of exciting experiences, some laughter and satisfaction. Thank you for all the interesting texts you wrote!

Yes, here you've articulated the right word better than myself :) little gap year to re-orient for the next stage of the journey. Thanks for the well wishes, I wish you the same too with many good surprises :)
