Hello Friends!
Arhar Dal is one of the most commonly prepared dishes in Indian households and is also one of the easiest pulses to cook at any time. It is also popularly known as toor dal. I bet there’s no person who hates this dal! It is tasty, light, and not boring at all. It’s like comfort food. Every time I go out on a trip and come back, Arhar Dal with rice is the first dish I have because it’s light, comforting, and yummy.
It doesn’t require any major preparation, no soaking, very less chopping and cooking time is also very less. If you want to impress someone with your cooking skills, go for this dal because one really can’t go wrong with it. It is best enjoyed with rice. This protein-rich dal is not just great in taste, but also comes loaded with health benefits. Arhar dal is highly recommended for pregnant women as it is high in folic acid. Apart from that, the dal is also high in fiber which helps in digestion and aids in weight loss. Even my little one loves it. I give it to him with rice, mashing both together, and some ghee.
Let’s see how we make it.

Dhal is one of my fave foods. I like it to be garlicky tho. is it ok to add garlic too?
You can add whatever you want. But you would love this dal without garlic too. The taste of the lentil itself is extremely good, it doesn't require too many additions.
Had to look up 'degi mirch tadka' and not sure if I can get that here. Never seen it. Will try this recipe soon tho.
Ok so degi Mirch tadka means heating just 1 tbsp oil in a small pan and adding less spicy red chilli powder to it. Once the chilli cooks in the oil (which would take about 4-5 sec), just garnish the oil on the dal.

I've had arhar dal today in dinner 😀. I can smell the dal through the picture.
