Surfing
The twelve year old gets the prize for riding the longest curl! This guy had the timing and launch that awarded him the surfing trophy.
We could have gotten two surf boards (body boards) which was one of the options they had - or - we could get just one surf board and two very cool digger gloves.
The kids could not see letting those diggers go on with their purposeless existence in the store window. For that reason, they are taking turns with one board.
Neither one of my boys knew how to swim at this point in life. They did not learn that trick until we moved to the tower. I was having difficulty teaching them with all the sand and waves of the ocean.
By the way, I found this panarama shot in my photo drive and it seems it will make a good separator for my posts. Fits with the who lives in a pineapple under the sea theme that has been my habit for over five years.
As one might expect, we were toasted crispy that day and I pulled back into a shady part of a sand dune while the kids continued to run and play and surf. That is where I took the shot of the beach wide-view above.
I could easily see how they were doing from my hilltop bunker. My worry was that they might forget they cannot swim and go out too far trying to catch that next wave. We still had some time before high tide came in, so they would be alright and I could let my skin cool down.
We only lasted three days in the sun even with sunscreen being put on every two hours. The rest of the week would have to be spent with shirts on and draping a second shirt over the head to cover up our necks. There was still plenty to do in Mar de Ajo for the overly sunned tourists.
Mantap 👍👍👍
