And on that day, a new player arrived unannounced and unafraid. It offered a new opportunity.
Curators of old flocked towards the new. They became intent on demonstrating their Proof of Brain.
Introduction
Inspired by Bitcoin, Hive, and LeoFinance, @proofofbrainio introduced the Proof of Brain (POB) community and its token. The aim of POB was simple: reward the blockchain with high-quality content in exchange for well-earned currency. Furthermore, POB promises to have a fair yet reasonable token distribution.
There is no mining involved with Proof of Brain (POB) currency. While POB borrows from the Bitcoin concept, people earn the token through either rewards or purchases on the exchange.
The results have been impressive. The value of POB currency surpasses that of HIVE, but for how long?
- People are producing high-quality content, but so are other tribes.
- A reason for this difference may be in the type of content allowed.
- For example, one tribe may be solely dedicated to free-writing, while another may only be to gaming-related topics.
It is the tribe, as a whole, that makes POB incredible. And we do it by learning and engaging while meeting the VAST pillars of the community.
VAST Proof of Brain
The VAST pillars of the POB community include vision, accountability, synergy, and transparency. Working towards, achieving, and maintaining these ideals will keep the tribe strong and successful.

Vision
The vision of POB is to develop high-quality content through community engagement, accountability, and synergy.
Accountability
- The founder, the development team, and all stakeholders are responsible for stabilizing and growing the community.
- We will hold ourselves and others accountable for the content we create and share with the community and blockchain.
- Tribe developers are committed to providing periodic community updates on the status, issues, and futures of POB.
- Stakeholders are responsible for voicing their concerns and ensuring they are tracked, recorded, and addressed.
Synergy
- We will cooperate to create, curate, and moderate high-quality content throughout the tribe and blockchain.
Transparency
- Our actions will be open and clear for the world to see.
- We will communicate publicly with the blockchain and report on our progress.
If approved by the community, future versions of POB's recommended pillars should be updated as required by user engagement, tribal leadership, and stakeholders.
Roadmap
We can never get from where we are to where we need to be without a plan. The best program plans allow adjustments to our course for the best possible results. In the path we follow, the journey will always be more important than the destination.

In my primary job, I could task people to deliver the information to me by a specific date for presentation to a group. In this case, it should be presented first and then adjusted based upon community feedback. We all have responsibilities in different locations, lives, and time zones.
What are your thoughts? How can I adjust the roadmap to reflect progress in POB better?
The roadmap and pillars should be maintained as living documents. It should be updated regularly and communicated to the group as applicable.
Request for Proposal - Ecency Development
It's been about a month now and, in keeping with his original project proposal entitled, "POB for Ecency : Funding Proposal : Ecency rewards", @leprechaun made significant progress towards the development of a POB-Ecency platform.
In his most recent post, "Brave Problems with New Front End",@leprechaun mentions issues he's experiencing with the Brave browser. He requests development support to promptly address the issues he stated.
Request proposals from the community from anyone capable of assisting @leprechaun:
- Leprechaun should approve of the applicant
- When possible Leprechaun or the applicant should present a proposal to receive the appropriate funding
- Community authorization should be polled on that proposal request.
- 51% approval of the community should be the deciding factor of whether or not the funding gets approved.

It was my pleasure to provide it. It seemed like everyone had similar expectations and plans regarding the tribe. I felt people's comments were falling along the same lines. I didn't want the community's expectations to fall into the ether.

You're welcome. Given the recent arrival of POB and the numerous conversations about it, I felt that something like this was warranted. There are a lot of serious discussions going on about the things POB can do for itself. I felt someone should have put the plans out for people to see.

I'm currently enjoying the pob-wotw, something about it feels engaging, rewarding and totally attractive. It's amazing to highlight these roadmaps, I'm guessing the ad revenue implementation is coming good maybe sometimes we'd like to see how well. POB is doing in this respect.
It's definitely important to see the progress of something you invest in as both an update and to see if potential issues exist.
Is it an official news from POB. There are many agendas that will bring POB have better value in the future.
I must say that it isn't official news at this time. It's a recommendation at this time.
I need input from the community and proofofbrainio on the recommendations I've made. What comes next would be an official update after I've made any approved changes occur. Then the community can vote on everything.

@scholaris , I got very excited when I saw you're attempting to build an @ecency based platform! The guys from the decency team have been heroic in their constant work and development of the platform over the last few years and they now have a beautiful product that works to perfection!
Until now, I have mainly avoided your platform despite it having the creme de la creme of writers contributing here simply because I don't like to see platforms being hijacked by users who are simply here to ride their power trip and I haven't been following the ensuing drama but having read an number of great articles on here in the last few days, I will be following more closely in future, especially with the news that you are attempting to create a whole new front-end, and slightly stretch away as a more independent community.
I have also been happy to see you in HW as you work on moderation and get a handle of the fine work they do. It's never easy, nor is it perfect but we all need to look out for cheats and fakes who make a mockery of the whole ecosystem.

I appreciate your compliment. Thank you very much. I feel that any drama here would be representative of any new and popular community that forms. The minimal restrictions on content, however, is what drew me in at first.
Moderation is coming along. I guess my aversion to it stems from the fact that I do similar work outside of HIVE to a degree. I've seen the adverse extremes IRL with discovery AND moderation. Definitely take the fun out of things, but with community support and the development of standard operating guides perhaps the tribe as a whole can support versus a select few.
You have to tip your hat to the Ecency group. They made a stellar product and Leprechaun is doing fine work. Have you seen his test platform of POB-Ecency? The link is in his article entitled, "Ecency to POB: Come See the new POB Front End". It's exciting progress.
I definitely see your position on avoiding the platform and respect your decision in doing so. I've made mistakes on other tribes and wasted some effort. Another thing that drew me to the group was that it was new. I couldn't resist the challenges presented in Cal's WOTW contest and now here I am. Know that there are people here that welcome you and look forward to your engagement in POB, as well as, daddy HIVE.
I think it is a great consideration on your part to let everyone know the roadmap or life of POB. I like to know that there is a planning, that we are working on it and that those of us who are here are not wasting time, on the contrary, we are investing it along with our effort and money (much or little, whatever), and although there are some things that will have to be corrected (no plan is exempt from this), I believe that there is a well prepared team capable of guiding us to achieve the growth and stability of POB, with the commitment of course also of the users who make life in it.
The only thing I would like to see in the roadmap is a time frame for preparation or estimated execution times. It will give us a projection of how hard we have to work and what we can achieve in the short, medium and long term.

In preparing the article, it was my responsibility to generate a timeline. I did not have the opportunity to research everyone's comments to that degree. Further updates to either the VAST pillars and Roadmap will be communicated as an update.
Additionally, the one timeline I did want to pursue was Leprechaun's programming efforts, but I really didn't want to press him for information. He's done a great job to this point and I know he'll pull through. Have you seen his prototype Ecency for POB? Amazing.

I think POB will benefit from it too. The trick now will be consistency in updating the group. I don't know if it's just me though, but I feel that Leprechaun's work is like a lynchpin for further tribal development. I'm concerned, yet not given his progress if that makes any sense.

I felt it was a natural progression for technological development. Leprechaun is talented. If he feels comfortable with the idea, he would be the best candidate to make this happen in my humble opinion.
I also believe Leprechaun is well capable. It shouldn't be rushed. Just feel we will be needing it at some point
We're seeing eye-to-eye on this one. It's always good to prepare or make a request for a proposal. I waited on that request until he started asking for assistance. What he has currently looked amazing.

Thanks battleaxe. I'm glad you approve. The difficulty will be incorporating everyone's opinions into workable guidelines that aren't too vague while not being restrictive.
We should say how we'd like people to behave, but limit what the group wouldn't tolerate to a few obvious things. I think an approach like this is important because of so many gray areas that appear to exist on Hive.

Fantastic! It's great to finally see a "roadmap" forming! It is the structure we need to strengthen the POB path. This post should be fixed in the trendings.
I'm glad you like it. It's fixed to the announcements in discord, but I feel it still needs a lot of work. It took quite some time to get through everyone's comments. Something like this, though, should have come a lot sooner, but that's just my opinion. I have no experience on HIVE other than what I've done here.
