RE: 9 Truths About Power, Abuse, & Downvotes (You'll Probably Hate)

For thousands of years societies have been trying to get 'everyone to agree', and 'play nice.' Literally zero progress has been made in this, and never will be

I can't count how many times I've seen this blamed on "the system we're in." "If we can only change the system, everyone can be equal."

It seems to be human nature to try and make utopia, yet few seem to realise it can never be, because utopia is different for everyone.

In many ways Hive seems to reflect the world at large. There's a lot of this power dynamic happening at the moment and perhaps more are scrambling to gain a bit of power in order to feel less out of control or helpless. My mind is going off at tangents now. Time for bed...

Sort:

You are so right. Life, the universe, nature, etc. is the system we're in, and it is designed for variety, diversity, and something far from complete agreement. No man-made system is going to trump nature/life/the universe, and it seems either a) arrogant or b) futile to believe otherwise, to think we can somehow create a Utopia-Of-Agreement at the cost of diversity and billions of perspectives... but I gladly allow and encourage others to their own views. :)

Thank you so much for emphasizing this point and noting how it's reflected in the world at large. A 'scramble for control' does seem fairly common lately, lol.

Great tangent, wishing you a wonderful rest! 🙏

Thank you, I actually slept rather well last night. Anxiety levels coming down. 😊

I feel like for many, seeing the big picture can become overwhelming or just too large a scope. We all have limits (for me it's trying to comprehend the vastness of the universe as it stretches into infinity. That bakes my brain!), so we stick to what is within the scope we can handle or understand. I don't think this is a bad thing, because it means that each of us can work on a component. It just makes it a little harder for those working on different components to agree on what is more important.

I'm pleased to hear it, and may it continue. 😀

I agree that we all have our scope of understanding, and personally I aim to see as much of the big picture as I'm able, but it's a life-long journey. :) 🙏
