Ya it really worked out.
The house was built in the 80s and everything is original pretty much, so some things need updating and others are just cosmetic for our taste/style. I try to do as much myself as possible to save money

It will save a fortune. I try to do at much as I can around our house but the shit you do scares me! 😃😃
I started small and built up to these things over the course of many years, probably 12 years at this point.
It went from peel and stick tile flooring with grout, to tile backsplash, to 1x2 ceramic tiles, to 2x2 ceramic tiles. Its not done over night or without practice.
