Thanksgiving Delight - Keep 'em coming...

in Proof of Brain3 years ago (edited)

Talks of today being Thanksgiving day in some part of the world is one of the things trending in the airwaves. While I try to imagine how things would be in those parts of the world, it rather feels as if Christmas came in November for them. Lol.

I'm not yet in that part of the world and I don't have the full idea of how it feels to celebrate Thanksgiving over there, but I'm well informed about the part that interests the foodies. Hehe. With that said, I'm already expecting my share of what would be served by different households at the banquet.

Thanks to the just concluded PYPT (Pimp Your Post Thursday) show, I got to see the menu prepared by @bluefinstudios for his family and it spiked up my appetite.

According to him;

19lbs of turkey,
Balsamic Brussels Sprouts,
Garlic Smashed Potato,
Oven-Baked Sweet Potato (Yams) and
Stuffing will be served.

The names though. Whenever such fancy named meals are served on such occasions, it adds more spice to the merriment.

For the record, l 've never tried any of those meals, but I looked it up on google. Hehe. Sumptuous stuff!

This is me calling out every friend, and maybe foes (if there is any), who is celebrating this occasion. I heard that the big birds (turkeys) are always present on almost all tables.

I love those big birds and I want mine well spiced up. Mixing it up with chicken wouldn't be a bad idea. Hehe.

I've said what I want for Thanksgiving, now...I wait!

Keep 'em coming...

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma

not @bluefunstudios!!!! LOLOL

don't worry- clams for this year. but when you come ALL of the traditional.

you will be oh so happy... we serve twice the amount of food as blue. hahahahahahaha

you will need to bring stretchy pants so you can be truly STUFFED hahahahaha

Loll.... I'm already getting fattened up. Lol.

To get it all in, I need to start a workout routine immediately 😂

I'm coming up to the mountain 😂.

Remember, the single most important ingredient at Thanksgiving Dinner?

Love.

Yeah... That makes alot of sense.

Live rules ✌️

Heheheh. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Nigeria, I also wonder how it feels to celebrate it especially as Christmas us just at the corner, you'd celebrate now only to celebrate Christmas in a short while and then celebrate New year again. Damn.

Man, if only you could go to the houses of these friends of yours, you'd be drunk with chicken and turkeys

Hahaha... If we had this as one of our celebration, cruising will finish many people before New Year 😂.

The way they talk about Turkey over there is on a whole new level. Heheh. It's so tempting 😂

Yea, they talk too much about Turkey on Thanksgiving 😅, have you seen their memes? Here's one:

Hahahah... Thanks for sharing this 😂😂. Woww

We do more of Chicken in our our of the world 😂.

But turkey can never go wrong. Lol

Yea, turkey is great too and the size is 🔥

😂😂😅👍

Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October... that gives us some time to recover before the next turkey time at Christmas.

Ah, good for y'all @shadowspub!
Canada has always had a reputation for doing things better and in more organized fashion, I never knew it extended to turkey breaks. Great work 😂😅

Not so much more organized but more that Parliament did two things when setting the date after decades of it floating around. They decided to set the date close to the end of harvest time in Canada as the holiday is meant to be a giving of thanks for a successful harves. Or at least it was at the time.

These days it's more about a general giving of thanks. The holiday tends to be more lowkey here. It also signals the closing of summer activities like cottages and campgrounds.

Parliament also meant to avoid overshadowing Remembrance Day which is a day of solemn observances of the sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms.

Wow, a lot of thinking went into that, that's still impressive😊,

in Europe we dont celebrate Thanksgiving, but your picture and bevor I wrote some foodie stuff ;-) NOW I got really hungry in the middle of the night ;-) thank you ;-)

Lol... That's also what I heard. The Americans are very loud with this celebration so, it is trending all over. Hehe

We missed you in PYPT. C'ya by daybreak

Yea I was thinking of you, but was so tired from a hole garden working day. The last things had to be done bevor winter comes. Happy you living in a warm land without winter :-)

Hahah.. don't be happy for that. We can't even do anything without having to deal with the hot weather. It's very inconvenient.

The worst of it is that snakes are now getting into people's houses and hiding in the toilet pipe due to the hotness of the weather. Lol.

Don't wish for this 😂😂😂. I can't wait to relocate to your part of the world

Iiiihhh no 😂 than better a little bit cold. you are absolutely right :-)
I dont !LUV snakes

Hahaha... People are now hesitating to use their bathroom. Lol.

I've been using some chemicals around my surroundings to make sure that I won't ever see those creatures. Heheh. I don't like seeing them talk more of seeing them in my house.

You see, your cold is a blessing.

We also don't get good electricity here so, sleeping in this hot weather without fan can be a nightmare 😂

If you have a turkey, you don't need chicken. Trust me.. turkey has lots of meat on it. When I was growing up a 18lb (about 8Kg) bird was the norm for our family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. That would feed the family and then a few days of leftovers.. nothing like turkey sandwiches with dressing and cranberry sauce. I discovered cranberry sauce made from scratch as an adult, prompting me to never return to canned stuff.

I had went to make enquiry in a frozen meat store close to my apartment.

They placed a kilo of chicken for #1250 whole half kilo of turkey was priced at #1300

The difference though.

I haven't checked, but it seems like turkey has more enriching nutrients than chicken. I would have to look that up and be sure. Heheh

No canned stuff for shadows. I'm not surprised. Hehe

While both are poultry the tastes are different as are to some extent the cooking methods. Turkey can be a challenge to roast fully without drying out the meat, thus the need to baste it regularly during the cooking process. Some like to brine the meat which gives it opportunity to absorb moisture (usually water) that helps the meat stay moist during the cooking.

I enjoy deep fried turkey which is usually always nice and moist. I had thought the meat would be greasy after exposing it to that much oil but it comes out really nice. The downside is that the oil does get into the carcass thus trying to use the bones for broth doesn't go well. Did I mention I liked turkey soupl :)

Hahah... Turkey soup goes to you.

You know alot about turkeys. I'm beginning to think that it may be one of those big birds in your freezer 🤣. Wild guess.

What I often do with meats is to steam it with some spices in addition to some slice of onions. When it's well steamed, I add it to my stew sauce.

I'd like fried ones, but I haven't tried frying any meat. I mostly get to eat fried ones when I'm at our family house. And the ladies take charge of that. Hehe

I don't have a turkey in my freezer. Currently I don't have an oven large enough to cook one in. If I did, there would be one but a small one like about 10-12lbs.

The deep frying process can be dangerous, so it has to be done with care. Steamed spiced meat sounds intriguing especially cuts that need slow cooking that would make them very tender and tasty.

The chicken is so big and looks so delicious, can you finish it all 😁👏

Lol.... The bigger the better. Isn't it?

If it doesn't finish today, tomorrow will be another day and the day after tomorrow is still on the way 😂

Then please give me half of the chicken, lol 🤣🤣

Lol... How far is nigeria from your country?

I suggest you start the journey immediately so that you won't meet an empty table 😂

Looks like two days won't be enough time 😅

If I walk, it takes 132 days 🤣🤣

img_0.6443518087712.jpg

Auchhhh.... 132 days?
Hahaha.... You need to see how I'm laughing at the moment 😂

You better sit back and enjoy what you see in the picture 😂😂. I wouldn't want a brother to loose his breath over there.

Woww... This world is so big. Hehe

You know, today I had lunch with grilled chicken 🤤🤣

Should I call it chicken or turkey is entering my eyes and it's smelling my nose and watering my mouth 😋🤤🤤🤤🤤

Lol.. The invisible @ssharonco has shown her face again.

These are Wild Turkey! They live wild here, and are farmed and raised here, too. They feed lots of people, and are an amazing meal.
