Posted In: Worldmappin | After travelling 600 kms by bus, I reached Solang Valley which is situated at 2450 meters and here I have to volunteer in a running event. My work right now is that I have to mark the route so that the runners do not get lost in the forest. I am staying at Hotel Adventure Valley in Solang which is a very beautiful hotel built on the banks of the Beas River. The weather outside is clear and taking advantage of this, I set out to mark the route. I walk 5 kms from the hotel to Kothi from where I have to mark the route up to the 14th turn, I start marking the trail by walking slowly. It has not been long since I started walking and grey and black clouds have started hovering over my head ... |

Posted In: Hive Learners | I believe raising a kid is one of the most difficult job as a parent, there’s no disputing the fact that they are a blessing from God, but then there are a lot of things attached to being a good parent, which sometimes can be quite difficult and overwhelming. Parenting isn’t an easy task, it takes a whole lot of time, effort and dedication into making sure they don’t become a threat to the society they find themselves living in, and sometimes the stress and headache they give their parents while growing up is just too much and can be overwhelming… When it comes to raising a kid or kids, there are lots of work to be done, this work is not a one action thing but rather a continuous action, and that is because while growing up a kid is able to see and process that which sees in his environment within him, and sometimes he or she might unintentionally pick up that habit, and that is when the parents job comes in… As a parent, the moment you see your kid(s) doing something different from what you’ve taught them and you as a parent already know how it’s gonna end if they aren’t call to order, call them to seat and let them know the danger that lies ahead if that attitude or action is not put to stop. It might take time, but then that is a parent job, a good parent would do everything humanly possible to make their kids a good example in the society… The turn out of a child is not totally dependent on the upbringing of their parents, parents can only do little when their kid is of age. There comes a time where kids have to stay very far away from their parents, particularly because of their tertiary education system or any other factor, thi ... |

Posted In: Hive Learners | The blame game is one that has been in existence for years, as you'll find different people pushing the blame on others when it comes to taking responsibility for something that went wrong. The same is the case in society, especially regarding when a child goes astray. We come to see parents pushing the blame on the child, the child pushing the blame on society, and society blaming the parents, but for how long will we continue in this way, and who truly should take the blame for how a child turns out between the child themselves or their parents? In this article, I'll be sharing my take on this subject matter. You see, there are many things involved when it comes to how a child's life turns out, be it good or bad. There are several things and people that must have played a role along the line for things to go either way in the life of a child, and that's why I have the belief that just one person can't be held responsible for what happens to be the end result at the end of the day ... |

Posted In: The Ink Well | . I came from a family where everyone was in one line of business except for one person, my uncle Obinna. As an inquisitive kid, I always wanted to know why he chose something different. I remember asking my dad one day and watching him lean back on his favourite rocking chair, his gaze to the evening stars, while I sat on the floor just at his feet. Tiny cricket sounds were all we could hear in the background that might. Then he cleared his throat and said "As a young man, your uncle Obinna didn't have it all rosy in life" ... |
