Downvotes is not a bad idea itself but some people have started abusing it,some now downvote for no reason...if they do not like you they just downvote you and they have turned it into a personal attack...

Downvote wars can be stopped when people know that there will be a penalty for it..
I don't think putting penalty on the use of downvote is okay because if that is done that means the purpose of creating such option in the platform is neglected.
Which is also the same thing as removing the downvote button 🔘.
Which will make me ask this "if penalty is placed on the use of downvote, what will be the measures or punishment that will be used against anybody who defaults in the platform?
You have made a valid point,i agree with you..
Downvote is not bad and I'm not against that, but we all have to know is created for a reason and not meant for personal quarrel which is the abuse.
So I think we all have to know the reason for this downvote and use it appropriately when needed is some cases of plagiarism or other actions which do not support the platform.
