I Censor Therefore I am

I am descended here to tell you my tale
Through the blog of a Dawg and the voice of a Whale
So buckle up underlings as we set sail
On a treacherous journey in which we will fail
...unless ye understand what it must entail
To expand one's boundaries; to quit the beaten trail.

Let's start with a simple etymological dig into the word 'censor' and see if it has historically really ever meant anything much other than the imposition of heavy-handed and authoritarian man-made (vs 'natural') standards from above by those in positions of Power in order to pursue this or that agenda/narrative....shall we (bold emphases are mine btw)?

1530s, "Roman magistrate of 5c. B.C.E. who took censuses and oversaw public manners and morals," from French censor and directly from Latin censor, from censere "to appraise, value, judge"...

...Transferred sense of "officious judge of morals and conduct" in English is from 1590s. Latin censor also had a transferred sense of "a severe judge; a rigid moralist; a censurer."

From 1640s as "official empowered to examine books, plays (later films, etc.) to see they are free of anything immoral or heretical." By the early decades of the 19c. the meaning of the English word had concentrated into "state agent charged with suppression of speech or published matter deemed politically subversive." Hmm, deliciously grim stuff eh? What a cheery bunch of folk we Censors are! You won't find much mollycoddling of Free Speech or any other fancypants idealism in our world. BTW nothing here about dealing with plagiarism so you needn't worry about getting censored for presenting the work of others' as your own - more likely to be punished or, if you're powerful like us, even rewarded! Do a little historical research and you'll see some damn fine examples of agenda-pushing by TPTB of the time - those noble folk upholding moral laws of OUR determination by burning nasty subversives who peddle in magic or otherwise question OUR narrative. Tyranny rebranded as 'censorship' - and this of course continues into the present day in domains both large and small. The universe is fractal!

As we gather up our assets, calling out to the sycophants "yo"
Sledgehammering with official might anything we wanna censor

We've got an agenda to advance and firepower with which to do so!

It's simple if you want it in Plain Eenglees:

• it's never been about your precious Free Speech so get over it
• it's censored if we say it is! We decide what is 'good' and 'bad'. Wipe your eyes and stop moaning about your 'good intentions' - read my lips "IDGAF"
• ever heard of Survival of the Fittest ? I'll maybe consider 'listening' to you when you are 'fit' like I am coz by then you'll likely be one of 'US'....until then just STFU coz there ain't nothing you can do about it anyway except moan about being 'censored' or accusing the 'censor' of any of the number of things I've just admitted to....told ya IDGAF 🤣
• might IS right and I defend my right to exercise my might by squashing those that dare disagree

Ok, Admission Time

_{I'm actually scared and so starved of attention, I have sought to satisfy my hunger through exercising power over others. I smile at those who agree with me and I bask in their flattery, rewarding them with pats on the back. I take refuge in the authority of those that I hand over such authority to - the 'experts', as I like to call them. I take strength in action from these 'expert' statements which serve alternatively as pillars supporting my arguments, or else as hammer-headed conversation-stoppers with which to smash opponents over the head. But deep down I'm scared that this might not actually be the way to happiness - I mean I get kicks out of seeing folk squirm like the vermin they are, but I also have the nagging feeling that something will come back to bite me somehow. I have deep pain and carry the wounds of many traumas. I build walls as a defence. I strike before I am struck and I gather Power unto me that I may never again be vanquished in this war called 'life'. I am a control freak and I gratify the Shadow endlessly. My power is dependent on the whims of those who are my superiors and masters. This power, in turn, is fed off the misery of others. Deep within I know I am but a slave, addicted to power, status and material things. I envy those upon whom I inflict my Dark Deeds, for many of them are FREE in a way I am not! In actual Truth, I am vulnerable and weak in an emotional and spiritual sense and have to compensate for this by violating - at the material level - that which eludes me. I have given away something fundamental in exchange for Power and I am no longer so certain it was worth it!}

FFS, that little asshole of a Multiple Personality of mine let some cats out of the bag - and on a Dawg-blog too.......damn.....ahem, let's just move on now shall we? I'm one powerful MOFO or doncha know?

RIGHT let's get this one question clear:
I am The Censor, a V.I.P
I chop you down, hunt you far and near
I am Power
The very voice of authority you fear
I am Might
You are nothing, if not at the very least my peer
I am Right
I set the rooolz, ya hear?
And IDGAF
About that which you hold tender and dear!

Recapping

• there is such a thing as Power Over Others: we have LOTS of it but it's also an addiction and we want more
• some cultivate or aspire to fragments of this Power and are hungry for it - these are the useful minions
• there are kicks to be gotten from observing the squirming of the 'undeserving' - Schadenfreude baby!
• sycophants will accept the agenda coz they get fed crumbs from the Pockets of Power
• others will accept the agenda coz they are shit scared and will just self-censor.....brilliant!
• call it what you will, it doesn't matter coz we hold the Power and there is nothing you can do. You are free to express anything, just know that if we don't like it we will make you crawl in the gutters of irrelevance
• if you wanna get some of that shiny fool's gold, stick yer tongue out and start lickin'......like yesterday!
