My first proposal - Its trivial but could help, Lets be Mobile Friendly

in Proof of Brain4 years ago (edited)

Ok so I mostly use POB and other HIVE platforms through my mobile phone and apologies if it just my more technical knowledge but I am continually annoyed about the features that are absent compared to the PC based web version. What if we had an amazing mobile version, one of the best for a tribe? As you can see below mobile phone reach could be a key to POB growth.

2 difference I have noticed so far:

  1. When voting I cannot see how much POB will be given out, only a % bar. I can also not see my current power level in POB. This cause issues I addressed in a different post where I was under voting people because I did not set my multiplier correctly

  1. Images refuse to upload on my blogs, might be me or the front end... but imagine if we fixed this first
Bonus option. Could we set our vote multiplier within our front end rather than making people go to Leodex ?

Now while it was hard to find exact data I did look at WEF - Global Information Technology Report:

In the USA 81% of house holds have a computer, for every 100 people there are 110 mobile phone subscriptions

In the UK 90.8 % of households have a computer, for every 100 people there are 123 mobile phone subscriptions

In Australia 85.5 % of households have a computer, For every 100 people there are 131 mobile phone subscriptions

In Brazil 52 % of households have a computer, For every 100 people there are 138.95 mobile phone subscriptions

In India 13 % of households have a computer, For every 100 people there are 75 mobile phone subscriptions

In South Africa 28 % of households have a computer, For every 100 people there are 149 mobile phone subscriptions

I don't really use mobile a lot but I know that being mobile-friendly is very important for mass adoption and because of that I think this would be a great development for the community.

Thanks you for stopping and commenting:)

I agree that it should be more mobile friendly. I imagine that they're working on mobile friendly updates soon, and it not, they will be.

Good eye on the bar, I never noticed the percent thing. I almost exclusively use PEAKD for my mobile hive experience though.

I did know there was a difference until I hit the multiplier snag and madstacks had diffrent buttons to me!

I'm not on the mobile very often but I can see the benefits of having an easy-to-use mobile application with all the bells and whistles. I don't know what it takes to set up a mobile application of this caliber though, I would imagine it isn't a walk in the park.

Are the voting and the image uploading the only issues you are having at the moment with the mobile version of the site or are there other bugs you've noticed?

Great suggestions by the way, I'm glad that people are taking the opportunity presented by @vempromundo in his post about Proposals for the platform.

They are the main two bugs, but setting a voting multiplier would be a great feature. Let's make our mobile websites as smart as possible!

Upvoted for raising effective matters for POB.

I often upvote articles that resonate with the logical POB development, improvement, engagement, but also those that are intriguing.

On the front end-end here I've never managed to insert photos or gifs, so I am going on ecency after publishing the article and fix this, re-editing the article. Could be a bit time-consuming and resource-consuming for those that are new and only have a few HP.

I have the same frustration, have to post, and then rush to edit a pic in via peakd or ecency

Yes, ...and the laptop works slowly because I have other Hive articles to read and many windows are opened. Ah...the daily challenge :) of trying to relax while in this process

Just like many in the comments, I also don't use the mobile version that often, but for sure a good one will make all the difference in the long run. My fingers are too fatty to use on the mobile screen.

About the situation of uploading photos, I write all my post on peakd and then copy - paste here to post. It seems easier to me than posting then editing.

Great ideias here! Let's see if we can get some of the pob-fund in this direction!
Thanks for bringing this to the table!

thanks for taking the time to read. I was a little nervous because its hard to tell when problems are your own making or a bigger potential issue!

I confess, I have experimented using mobile for web pages but you just cannot get as good an experience with a smaller screen, IMO. Instead of a vote bar, suppose there were buttons displaying (^1 POB), (^5 POB) (^20 POB). These buttons would try to be integer values and be different for each user in amount. For a POB minow just the one button. (^1 POB)

Ohh I like that!
