Probably naming it "A Dwindling Misery" ..
Life has been so miserable for Kerina since when she was eight , when she lost her father .
Her mother left her for the father when she was four,with reasons best known to her Dad .
Unfortunately, he is late now and there's no body to tell her precisely what caused her parents separation.
When her father died , her aunties decided to take her to the orphanage.
The reasons were because, they felt that Kerina had an hand in her father's dead and that she was sort of an evil because of the things she does, things almost impossible for a child of her age to do.
They were afraid to take her in,
because they didn't want her to torture and manipulate them with some supernatural powers.
This thought came as a result of an incident that occurred two years ago, when her father was still alive.
It was a very gloomy day,when the sky was as a pregnant woman when was due delivery.
Her father was sitting down in the verandah,waiting for her to bring his food from the kitchen.
"Kerina!, aren't you giving me food again, please bring the food" Her father shouted almost loudly.
"Dad, I'm coming,just some more seconds !"... Kerina replied.
"Hasten up please ,I'm almost famished.
Kerina brought the food ,almost immediately he concluded the last sentence.
"What took you so long", Dad asked
"I'm sorry, Dad" Kerina apologized.
The food was just a good one as his father was shaking his head up and down.
This has always being his reaction whenever he's eating the food cooked by Kerina.
To kerina, it seems like a mock when her father does this, because there's always a difference between the food she cooks and the one they cook..
After the meal, the father had his bath and went to bed for a bit nap.. Kerina didn't know that was going to be the last time to see her father alive...
To her, it was still a normal day as she went into the kitchen, humming the song" steadfast love".
Night was approaching, when she discovered that her father was still on his siesta.
It was really unusual, because he takes nap for two hours,latest. It's been almost five hours now and he was still sleeping.
"Maybe he's just exhausted" Kerina thought.
She went to bed that evening after having her dinner, thinking that her father will soon wake her up for his dinner too,but He never came...
Kerina woke up late than the usual time the following morning and she discovered her father was still sleeping..
"This man is funny o, later he will be telling me that lazy people sleeps like that " Kerina sarcastically said.
It was time for breakfast and her father wasn't out yet, she then decided to go and call him.
Arriving her father's bedroom, she saw blood in dripping out of her father's mouth and nostrils.
"Father!!!!!!! " Kerina exclaimed.
She shaked her father abruptly but wasn't her father didn't move and inch.
She kept shaking him ,until it occurred to her that her father is dead..
"Help! Help!! Help o!!, she shouted,
running out of the room to the balcony... The neighbors came out and she took them to the room..
Seeing her father lying deadlessly on the bed made the neighbors were so shocked that they shouted more and more, causing so much alarm in the environment.
Neighbors were crying, children were crying, teenagers were not
exempted...
Kerina was so shocked until she became unconscious..
Some women took care of her,making her to sleep was just impossible.
She couldn't get the whole scenario put of her brain..
It was like a night mare to Kerina.
That's when her pains started..
She couldn't stop crying all day , all night..
The father was buried two weeks later ..
Kerina has been so maltreated in several ways.. The house was taken away from her by her aunties and uncles and all of them decided to take her to the orphanage, Kerina was the best child there, always teaching the kids there.
Encouraging them that there's hope for the future, that the pains and the suffering now was only but a light affliction.
The care givers there loved her so well .. Eight months later ,without any visit from any of her aunties and uncles.
A couple came to the orphanage wanting to adopt a child since they have been futile for six years now in marriage..
They adopted Kerina, the care giver told them everything about the child.
Admonishing them to game care of the child..
The couple were so excited to have Kerina.
She was a fair complexion girl with a dark tangled hair.
It was her beauty that captivated them so much that they couldn't make any other choice.
That were asked to sign a document which they did.
The couples, Mr and Mrs Scott were just so fulfilled to have Kerina..
They were the happiest couple on earth.
Kerina was very brilliant, presentable,extremely smart and wise... Always making her parents to feel special...
Kerina enrolled in one of the best school in town ...
Seven months later, her mother discovered that she was pregnant ..
The couple went to the hospital and it was confirmed that she was pregnant..
It was the most beautiful time of their life when single they became couple..
One day , the wife asked her husband.
"Honey, have you noticed anything" Mrs Scott asked
"Hmmmmm. I can't tell.
What have you noticed?" Mr Scott asked
Ever since Kerina stepped her foot in this house, everything has just been working out for our good..
Remember that contract that you were following up but to no avail came up two weeks after Kerina arrived ...
Many other things but to mention but a few.. Now, the biggest one was here now , I'm pregnant after six years of childlessness ...
"There's something about this girl" She said ...
"I thank God for his faithfulness" he said
Three months later, the doctor told her that she was caring two children in her womb..
She was so elated that words can't tell it all.
She gave to twin boys.. They named them Leonard and Jim..
Three years later , things started changing ...
The parents showed her less concern but, much more attention was given to Leonard and Jim.
Kerina was chased out of school all because her parent refused to pay her fees.
Now , she is staying at home when Leonard and Jim were in school..
She's now having two or one square meal a day..
Months and months have passed and she was still at home without going to school..
Mrs Scott began to maltreat Kerina like never before..
Calling her all sorts names.
Saying that she killed her father..
Tears mad tears , pains and pain , agony and agony were just coming everyday of Kerina's life.
Mrs Scott said she should start selling grits in the street so that she could fend for herself..
Kerina was so shocked of his decision, but there was no two ways about it , it was a do or die affair.
Kerina started selling fruit in the street everyday before she eat in a day.
This as being occurring over and over again and there was no change of plans.
Mrs scott was able to convince her husband and he sure convinced ..
Time and time again , Kerina kept selling in the street, nonstop.
One day he met a man who bought her fruit and gave her much more than what the friut worth.
The man talk with her and was full of pity for her.
He took her to his house, gave her food and made her to sleep peacefully.
Later in the morning the man said she wasn't going back again ..
"This is your home now" he said.. Kerina couldn't believe her ears..
His children accepted him and the wife loved her so well that she couldn't comprehend.
Two weeks later, she resumed school with her new siblings..
She made excellent results in all endeavor.
The teachers were so proud of her. The students love her so well..
Kerina made the highest grade in her Senior Secondary Certificate Examination(SSCE).
She was given a scholarship by the federal government to study in any school in Nigeria.
Today, Kerina is a successful Lawyer in the Judiciary Court of Nigeria.. Helping the less privileged. in her country
Leonard and Jim are now squanderers.
Leaving irrationally.. Taking huge amount of money from their parent for school fees,when they had drop out of school long time ago.
Kerina is married to a medical doctor, Mr Frank with two kids.. Then she realize that life is only but a stage..
