I think I share in your believe that arguments when done properly should involve the parties making their points without obstructing or downgrading another. They should give what we call a listening ear.

No doubts, arguments must arise one way or the other cause we all often have different opinions about issues. However, lack of giving ourselves a listening ear is actually what causes these arguments to last longer than necessary.

If each party can just allow the other to proof his point without being bias or having a closed mind concerning the topic being argued, I believe we won't be having any cause for alarm...
