Greetings friends, today I bring you this beautiful tomatico butterfly, this is how I discovered that they call this beautiful insect in Venezuela because of its red tone similar to the color of the tomato. My garden attracts many butterflies, I have seen them of various colors hovering from plant to plant looking to steal the sweet nectar of their flowers. 🌷🦋🦋
When I saw the topic that POBphotocontest ❤️ presents us today, this beautiful butterfly came to my mind, since it has been one of the things that make me most happy and that I enjoy to the maximum, you can imagine how I walk after the butterflies in my garden until I managed to capture them with the camera.
Its scientific name is Anartia amathea, of the family Nymphalidae, also known as red peacock butterfly or scarlet butterfly. It is found in South America and can be easily spotted during the day.
These that we can see in the photos were fluttering in my garden, I still can not identify the sex of the butterflies, someone with more experience in insects could help to identify it.
Why do I like these insects?
Well, because they grace my garden with their color, shape and attractive appearance. Truly, every time I observe a butterfly I am amazed at how wonderful nature is. Each one of them has its natural charm. Best of all, they help pollinate my plants and fruit trees, they make them bloom and have crops in my garden.
Something that surprised me was to see how my vinca plants have brought out new colors, this has simply been a gift of the work that butterflies do in my garden. I have colors that are a hybrid product of the combination of colors of these plants and that can only have been done by butterflies, although sometimes bees also contribute to pollination, I have not seen them roaming around my garden for a long time. So this time the prize goes to the butterflies.
The photos were captured with my Redmi 9A Xiaomi cell phone, they are from my personal archive and I could observe that one was captured in November 2023 and the other in October 2022, maybe these months are where these insects appear or reproduce. Yesterday again I managed to observe it at dusk but I did not manage to photograph it.
