From my previous post for the pasy couple of days now, i have been more invested and focused on making the best use of a small water body close to my fato make dry season farming possible for myself.
Waiting to farm after the dry season can be a very boring wait in a way so the best thing I felt like doing is to go into a bit of irrigation system of farming ๐งบ to keep myself busy before the rain ๐ง๏ธ comes again
I have focused on some few crops like okra which I have talked about here https://hive.blog/hive-150280/@zion-francis/okra-abelmoschus-esculentus-a-little-water-retention-experiment-on-a-farm
This is my small cucumber ๐ฅ farm which is 4weeks old presently
There is actually an interesting back story as to why I chose to plant cucumber ๐ฅ even though I have never tasted it in my entire existence ๐ญ. Few weeks ago a friend bought some of this fruit from the market and offered me one and I subtly rejected it telling him I don't eat cucumber ๐ฅ and then for some reasons he started going on and on about it and how that it taste good and all. Well I didn't bulge but was smiling and saying no to the cucumber ๐ฅ. Then he went on to talk about some of its health benefits...
First thing he said to me was that it helps to manage someone's blood sugar, I didn't see that coming and he could see the surprise on my face so he continued by telling me that cucumber ๐ฅ has high level of vitamin k which strengthen the bone, and it also helps the body in terms of hydration. Mind you my friend is a doctor
The hydration part was one I was keen on reason been that it's dry season and we tend to get easily dehydrated.
Although he wasn't able to convince immediately to eat it as I am not much of a foodie ๐, but i was convinced enough to plant it in my farm ๐๐
So here I am six weeks in having a cucumber ๐ฅ farm to take care of. Maybe just maybe my first taste of cucumber ๐ฅ will be from my own farm๐
Thank you guys for taking out time to read this post. Have a great week ๐
I take alot of cucumber for the hydrating property, it helps ones body system with water retention.
These little cucumber plants look very healthy! Hopefully they keep on growing strong.
Well this is where we are so far
And yes they are growing fine so far
