A SWIFT VISIT TO MY CASSAVA FARM //AGRICULTURE//

A Visit to My Cassava Farm on 5th July 2025

Hello friends and family,

I had a swift visit to one of my farms where I planted cassava last year around July 2024. I allowed the cassava to mature for a full year. Then, on the 5th of July 2025, I, along with some of my family members; my wife and kids, Great and Gold went to the farm for the harvest. It took us about six hours to complete the harvesting process of the cassava.

During the initial cultivation, I hired some guys to help me make the heaps, and I paid them for their labour. Afterwards, I bought some chemicals to apply on the farm to prevent weeds from growing alongside the cassava. In period of six months later, I also hired three women to the farm to help me weed so that I could have a good and bountiful harvest.

Some of the challenges we encountered are as follows:

The cost of purchasing chemicals is drastically high and some of them do not function well.

The cost of buying fertilizer, as the soil is no longer fertile naturally.

And we have a slight shortage of rainfall which affects the growing season of the cassava.

Despite all the challenges, we had quite a good harvest and it was a successful one. I was able to get about two truckloads of cassava and alone is a testimony despite all the challenges. We basically used the cassava to make garri; (cassava flour), which we now enjoy in different forms. We use it to prepare Eba, and even soak it in water with sugar and groundnut or kulikuli, which tastes really nice and sweet.

With this little experience of mine, I believe I can connect with others great souls here who might want to share similar farming experiences or learn from mine experience to have a successful harvest.
