Hello Hivers 💕💘,
Farming activities required a lot of skills and techniques which can be seen physically and this is the more reason why practical aspect of farming is a compulsory aspect before you can call yourself a farmer. No matter all the farm land is either small or big the main thing is that how you connect with your planted crops. Back in the days when my dad was there as a typical farmer where he had a lot of farmland peculiar to unit and sections. This is what I mean we had our own farm in the obafemi awolowo teaching and research Farm where we are acquired a lot of land square. So each unit has its own very big farm square just take for instance the poultry unit has its own very big land square unit. We also have the cattle and beef section which also has it owns square unit. We also have the sheep and goats square units. So each of this we have our own farm sections as well so we planted a lot of things crops like the plantain, the cassava the cocoyam the yam itself, we also have the rabbit unit. We have a lot of farm land square in each unit. So we plant a lot of crops which also and lighting me physically and theoretical on how to go about farming activities. Very soon I'm going to go into a very large scale farming activities when I secure my own acres of land. This was what we always do at that point in time. We do a lot of mixed cropping and this is why I appreciate people going into farming activities and also farming generally like the animal production. It is not easy but when you are dedicated and also you are financially stable you can have a very successful Farm activities.
- This is a friend's farm which I visited recently which also has mixed cropping activities going on as you can see it in the pictures below and above.
In some cases it may be potatoes with another crop such as maize is also gone in line with each other. I am also same potatoes with millet or Guinea corn when I was in the North. It did so well too. They had a very wonderful farming season.
- The Okro mixed with the sweet potatos. It is always the best method and a safe method to practice the mixed cropping system. When you already have listed the particular set of planted crops which has reached its maturity stage you are left with another crop entirely for a period of months and this is a very safe method of practicing agriculture.
