When rearing of animals it is ideal to always have alternative for them in feeding them no matter what the situation is and as such it is good to be creative and which is why I always say that nothing is a waste. Even the waste is always useful for creative farmers. This is awesome why I always emphasize all getting alternative feeds or food for your animals even though you are into the use of Animal Feeds. I got to know this several methods while I was in the university doing some projects about animal keeping and rearing. It took my colleague and I a lot of challenges before we could gather a lot of food waste even from the outside school environment and on the long run with succeeded and keeping our rabbit with a lot of food waste such as Potato peels, cassava peels in moderation, Yam peel and so on. A lot of challenges along the line but that will be for another article.

So this was how we got started when its got to the turn of the potato peels. We first of all went around in the restaurant to search and collect this potato peels into separate big sack, after that we went ahead to Sun dry it for couple of days. And when the juice from the potato peel was already dried off to a moderate level, we had to took our records at first before going to the rabbit pen for feeding. This was how I made it as well just to show us some step by step method before we run at loss. I took some pictures when I was making this process one after the other.

This is the kind of potato we have here in my own environment although it may be different from another country but this is to show us how it looks like and in case you come across it in the market or in any way. Sometimes it may not be bigger than this and sometimes it may double this size.

It is much more preferable when you buy the potato and peel it keep it for some days or weeks before you feed it to your rabbit most especially. Other animals can feed on them directly.

This was when the sun drying was going on. This could last for some hours like 6 to 12 hours depending on how much more you want to dry the juice from the potato peel.

You also need to observe your animals properly so as for you to know exactly if they are consuming it or not. You must not use this type of food waste to feed your animals then go immediately. You need to be satisfied and to be 100% assure if they are really interested and eating it up.

You can see that I took my time to relax even though they are also used to this type of consuming this food waste. So in essence nothing is a waste you always need to be creative and see what other people cannot see.

You used to utilize every moment of your farm produce. Although some farmers may not be interested in this but I can assure you that it will reduce your concentrate.
