Hello Hivers 💘💕,

Have you ever asked a question that what can it take for you to be able plantain farmer or banana farmer? There is two different type of food here we are talking about in the sense that first and foremost they look alike while growing up but when it comes to the full thing aspect now here comes a very great difference to take note. There are so many discussions that came up concerning the growing up of plantain or banana sucker. And to the best of my knowledge I tried my best to analyze this even when so many people tends to mix it together. Mixing together in the sense that if you are not a very good observant as a farmer you will surely mix the type of banana or plantain sucker while growing up together.

Nowadays we also have different species of plantain likewise different species of banana. No matter where you visit either the Mall or supermarket or local market where they sell different types of fruits and food and also transact businesses. You will always see different types of banana on their market price list which simply means that when you get back to the farm you have a lot of work to do and this is why I always give it to the Farmers 100% because they are doing a very great job to bring out food from the soil. It is not easy because I have been in the shoes for several years and I am also still in the shoe or producing food, goods and services. So I know what it entails. This particular plants is from a very good and reliable source which means that for every farmer who intend to go into any type of farming businesses you must always go for the best specie no matter how cost it is at that point in time. So many people run at laws when it comes to getting to the final destination all because what they had already purchased while making the foundation of the farm is less healthy, or less productive all because it is also less in price. I have been in so many farms whereby at the end of the farming season they kept on analyzing their cost of production and so on while they went at lost. The first thing I asked was that where did you source for your primary planting sucker. To the best of my knowledge if you are going for this type of farming you must do your research extremely well either you visit the agro shop yourself or you have a farmer colleague who absolutely raise his or her own plantain suckers or banana suckers with great evidence with pictures or video recommendations. These are some of the things we need to always get into our mind before we jump into a conclusion of what to plant.

This plantain is a very good specie because even while growing up it's always exhibit A lot of more smaller sucker, which literally means that it's a very good product from its source. When it got to this stage and I got back to Ile Ife osun State Nigeria where we planted more of it. It was a very good travel talk because I also learned a lot. When I got to the farm I saw that this particular plantain had already gone to the state of harvesting.

  • HOW TO KNOW IF A PLANTAIN OR BANANA RIPE FOR HARVESTING.?

  • There are so many signs to look out for when you are about to harvest your plantain or banana fruit from its tree. As a typical farmer you will always notice that and observe that the leaves of the plantain or the banana is already dried leaving up to 4 to 5 green leaves on it. You will always know this before you get into this farming system so that even laborers will not cheat you. You should always know that it takes 3-4 months for a very good healthy plantain or banana soccer to get a very full maturity size right from the fruting stage. This is simply because of the nature of the soil and the nature of the natural rainfall or water irrigation system.

The green portion of the leaves can be used for so many purposes also which means that nothing is a waste when it comes to plantain farming if you know how to go about it. Some people actually buy this type of leaves because they are used for rapping of food or store food items for a very longer period of time. I have seen so many farms who actually keep all this for their customers to come and buy even after they have harvested a lot of their produce.

Most especially the dried leaves are extremely useful in the transportation and storage of kola nut or bitter kola. When I got to a farm and I saw them harvesting a lot of dried plantain leaves and immediately I waited for the owner of the farm to have little conversations. And on the long run I was told that people come all the way from the northern part of Nigeria to buy just the leaves of the plantain alone and stock it transport it back to their hometown for preservation of bitter kola before the transported back to different states.

When you record a very good upcoming small sucker growing up with your already grown up plantain or banana sucker, then you should know that this will be a very good sign for you to preserve or transplant the new ones into another agricultural Farmland. In as much as you have a very good record of your plantain or your banana plantation then you should be at rest for any other kind of activities to kick off.

The harvesting of the plantain should be done when it's reaches its full maturity stage just like the one you are seeing. Sometimes you may also experience premature harvesting only if you have a very heavy rainfall with a heavy wind that fall your plantain tree down. This is when you have the top most power to have premature harvesting. We also record this once in a while if you have extremely heavy rainfall with erosion or flood.
