Hello everyone,
What makes you busy?
Me? I was just busy doing copra yesterday and I was so tired so I did share it with you today.
When papa do some copra before I usually don't do much work I only assist since he was the expert. But yesterday it was a challenge. The other day, my in-laws received a call from a family and rush to the city to visit their parents who are very ill and papa who is done cutting all the coconut decided just to leave what he was doing due to an emergency.
we had 93 pieces of them but 80 of those which I work on.
And me who's in charge of the house and the stuff around here decided to finished what papa started because I know they cannot assure when they will be back home and the coconuts might get rotten. therefore, I have a few experiences doing copra so I do it myself since my partner was gone also for work.
Using improvised metal steel we remove the coconut meat from the shell.
Removing its kernels from the shell needs enough force to take them out from it.
While doing my job somebody was busy doing his part also.
My younger son "Lucas" always made me amazed in every single way, he was the sweetest of the two and the most helpful so I call him to take some selfies and smiles right away.
I was just so happy that he accompanied me because frankly speaking doing copra is very tiring but with his accompanying, it made my job a little lighter.
After four hours had gone I'm done removing all meats from the shells and we also saved the husk for making firewoods and other purposes and directly I made some rest because my hands and legs are shaking from doing the job and after resting I immediately started my second task.
The last task is to file all of them under the heat of the sun to dry up and unluckily the sun disappeared after a few hours and rain started to fall so I immediately took them and today I'm going to sun-dried them again if the sun will cooperate.
And Lastly, if they're all dried it's all ready to deliver to the buyers.
All I can say is doing copra manually is not easy. I don't know how big industries work for it but to my experience, it's never easy but I know here in my place Copra is one of many peoples livelihood and also to us so even it's tiring I'm gonna still stick to how it is done
