MY EXPERIENCE WITH OUTDOOR KITCHEN

Today, I went to an outdoor eatery to check out the difference compared to cooking at home. The difference is significant. I tried pricing a fried fish that was sliced and sold for 700 naira, but at the market, I can get a whole fish by just adding 800 naira, making it 1500 naira. Then, I also asked about beans. That price is understandable because beans are expensive. The amount equivalent to what was sold to a man I witnessed is just more than a cup and is sold for 550 naira in the market. I sat back and waited while a single man came by and bought food worth 1500 naira; another came and bought something worth 2000 naira. I was surprised, so I decided to buy Moi Moi (bean cake), which I added to the leftover spaghetti I had prepared with just 2100 naira, to make the woman feel at ease with me for just sitting without eating.

After the experience, I think it’s better to cook at home than to buy food outside. I only buy food if I'm taking someone out, but still, I prefer cooking indoors. Two weeks ago, I discouraged a friend of mine from hosting us at a restaurant for dinner because she wanted to cover the bills for three of my friends, along with me. So I quickly asked her to cook instead to save half of the bill, and it worked.
