Amazing day, everyone; for today's Blog, I am proud and excited to share with you all our Eco-fashioned event at school 💛✨.

For our final project in Science, Technology and Society Subject, the 3 courses joined together to make an Eco-Fashioned Runway for our Final project.

We made the decision to push ourselves by making a distinctive suit and gown out of recyclable and locally sourced materials. Although it was a difficult undertaking, we were committed to highlighting the elegance and adaptability of these frequently disregarded resources.

For our section inspiration came from a desire to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable fashion. I wanted to demonstrate that even seemingly "useless" materials can be transformed into something beautiful and meaningful and how we should protect our biodiversity to make a better living.

The journey was filled with both excitement and challenges. We spent countless hours scavenging local markets and recycling centres for materials. We collected old disc tape, Old Banig or (woven mats), bottle caps, plastic bags, and even coconut shells.

The creation process was a labour of love. We experimented with various techniques, such as weaving, braiding, and sculpting, to transform the raw materials into wearable art. We learned to appreciate the unique textures and colours of each material, and
We discovered the hidden potential in every piece of trash we found.

The final result was a one-of-a-kind suit and gown that we are incredibly proud of.

Suit

The foundation of the suit is a traditional Filipino woven mat, also known as the Banig Woven mat. It has elaborate patterns made from coconut shells. A lively and playful touch is added by the careful placement of thousands of bright bottle caps to create various designs and textures. Diamond discs, which are probably recycled from several sources, are put to use to create unique details and decorations that give the design depth and dimension. Durable and earthy, plastic bag provides a rustic and organic feel to the outfit, complementing the natural elements.

Gown

This garment is an excellent combination of current style and traditional Filipino craftsmanship. This gown is an eye-catching piece! Crafted from the heart of the Philippines, it's a masterpiece made with big palm tree seeds, coconut shells, coconut leaves, and diamond disk tape. Talk about eco-friendly fashion, which produces a captivating texture that gleams in the sunlight. Drama and elegance are added with the ruffled skirt and mermaid silhouette. These organic elements come together to make a gown that is as distinctive as the woman wearing it. It is a garment that honours the natural resources, people, and beauty of the Philippines.

This project has been a truly transformative experience. It taught us the importance of environmental consciousness and the power of creativity to make a difference. We hope that our creation will inspire others to think differently about waste and to embrace sustainable practices in their own lives.

We encourage everyone to explore the possibilities of repurposing and recycling. Let's turn trash into treasure and create a more sustainable future, one garment at a time. Let's help Mother Earth; let's make the world a better living for the next generation.
