A COMMUNAL CHRISTMAS

in CLEAN PLANET5 days ago
Unlike many other Christmas celebrations, I decided to go no where. I simply stayed back in Port Harcourt were I base to celebrate as much as I can. My reasons for not traveling were simple, I never wanted to spend more than I should all in the name of Christmas celebration. That notwithstanding, I still had an amazing celebration. In all, the season was amazing but singling out a particular experience that could be considered most interesting would be a very difficult task.

My most most amazing moments within the season were the times I spent with good friends and I will be shearing some of them with you. Just stay calm and journey with me as tell the stories.

THE 25th NIGHT

I have been a member of the Golden club for quite a while now, I am in fact a pioneer member. It is always the case that we celebrate Christmas every year on the eve of 26th December being 25th night proper. The celebration was amazing this time and I was part of it. The most amazing thing about the celebration is the fact that it was a gathering of friends. I might be one of the youngest among the members of the club but I have known every member from way back and they have been true friends. We drank, eat and danced together. But beyond that, we reunited. It is the case that some of our members have relocated to different parts of Nigeria, this very celebration bring them down to Port Harcourt to meet with good old friends. Thus, it was a celebration filled with beautiful and amazing moments.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR FOOD

In this part of the world, there is always more than enough to eat in times like this. You do not need to prepare anything before finding food to eat, it is a season of shearing. Being a lover of food, this is one of the things that interests me the most about the season. My mom and my one and only sister @eugenia7499 traveled on the 25th of December after preparing a delicious tomato stew and rice along side oha soup (a local Nigeria soup). Of course there were plenty of meat inside, plenty chicken and beef to be precise😀. Notwithstanding how much food we had at home, we still got a cooler of fried rice from a neighbour who assumed that we must have been unable to prepare anything for ourselves. It is sometimes taken for granted that men cannot cook in this part of the world and I absolutely understand why our beloved neighbour must have harboured such thought. The Christmas day was just the beginning as I had more to eat on the 1st of January. This time, it was the case that I had no food at home as my siblings has traveled home expect my youngest brother. We never made any food but we eat to our satisfaction. Many family friends invited knowing fully well that the two of us were home alone. To cut the long story short, I and brother visited three homes and were served different delicacy in each home. My experience this time made me realise that it is all about love.

CONCLUSION

There are certainly so many more things to shear with respect to the season. It was a season filled with celebrations but the communal part of these celebrations remain the most crucial. It is all about putting smiles on people's face and getting to spend quality time with loved ones. So far, the two events above are the most communal among every of my experiences this Christmas season. I am happy to have sheared them with you and I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.
