Not a little thank you

in CLEAN PLANET4 months ago (edited)

It was already dark at about 8:00pm and the environment was so cold and quiet because it had rained all day so I was preparing to go hug my bed when my phone rang. it was a phone call from precious one of my friend. She sounded so distressed and was crying over the phone which made me restless. It was as though she was loosing her voice gradually and was about giving up the ghost but in her tiny little voice I could hear her say help me Ene, it has started again. I hung on the call to see if I could reach out to any of her other friends but none was willing to go check up on her. You can't totally blame them because her domain is not in any way closer to theirs not even mine and that too considering the fact it was so quite outside and not safe for a lady going there all alone.

What can I possibly do? I don't want to risk my own life to safe another but at that point it was the only decision I have to make. I quickly rushed to change into something comfortable, took my ATM card and dashed out of the house. As at the time I was leaving my house it was 8:30pm already. I stood there at the junction almost in tears yet couldn't find any bike willing to go where precious lives but I never gave up......so lucky the next bike I stopped was heading towards that direction and it happened that he lives there as well and that was how I was able to get to her house that night.

The situation was bad and I was scared she was gonna die in my hands luckily I had already asked the bike man that dropped me off her place to wait so I could hurriedly check up on her only that my fees would have to multiply which I agreed.

With the help of the bike man I rushed her to the hospital which is also still far from where she lived, pay for the hospital card and did a down payment of about $15hbd which is currently about a total of ₦24,450 now but then it was around ₦20,000 in my country's currency and still spend the night with her in the hospital till her family arrived the hospital by morning before going home to freshen up.

It happened that after all I did till she was fully recovered I could not even get a little thank you from her. As much as it surprises you, I was shocked by her actions. I asked myself countless times if lending a helping hand has now become a sin but got no answer. To be frank with you guys I purge my eyes out knowing the risk I took to go to her house that night, the deposit I made at the hospital without a refund and so many other stuffs. Indeed the heart of man is desperately wicked. I could have left her since no one was willing to go help that night but I didn't. Once again I'II say the heart of men is wicked. But then the holy Bible says never pay evil for evil. Also it said if your brother did you wrong and you pay back with wrong, what then is your reward but if he done you wrong and you pay back good then be sure that your reward awaits you. This word has continuously be my watch guide and no matter what happened in the past it won't stop me from helping others when am in the position to do so cause I still believe good people do exist.
