Life is strange. Not complaining, that's what keeps it interesting. Bunted on the covid curveball recently but all I got out of it was a lingering sense of vertigo. It's kind of like being a teenager discovering bourbon again, albeit without the euphoria or bad decisions.
Which is all to say I haven't taken photos in a minute, but with my backlog archive there's no danger of running out of things to edit. These are all from a whirlwind three day visit to Grand Teton National Park in 2017. If my memory serves me that's the Snake River with the Tetons behind in the photos above.
Back in the day the only way to get across was the ferry. You don't got to count on that now but if you're feeling Huck Finn you'd better hop in.
There was something in the air while I was there. Wildfire smoke I believe they called it. Had haze for days. The Tetons are kind of special in not having foothills to muck up the view, it's just sort of flat and then suddenly there's a line of mountains jutting up.
Who's down to wager a buck? If you ain't got no doe, don't worry about it. Betting it's high time I dabbled in some different communities on this here hive.
Had no more than got my tent set up for my short stay in the Tetons when this mule deer wandered up and plopped himself down a few yards away.
These last two are from the northern end of Grand Teton National Park. At the foot of the mountains is Jackson Lake, one of the largest high altitude lakes in the United States.
It's not very often that I edit both the colour and the monochrome, let me know which versions y'all prefer.
Some beautiful photographs. I didn't know that place, it's a wonderful landscape. I'm glad you rescued it from your file and shared them here. Each version of the images has a special charm. I'm usually more attracted to colour, but both the ferry and the deer earn a lot in black and white. It gives them strength and they impress more in its second edition.

Thank you. It's an amazing place, it tends to get overshadowed by it's neighbor to the north, Yellowstone NP but it's something to see.
Those ain't Tetons. I've been through them a buncha times, took a buncha pics, too, and they don't look anything like yours.
You must have been on the West Coast side of them.
C | M | C | M - that's my preference. Truly, what a wonderful place, its natural beauty is amazing and the fact that the buck just plopped down so close to you - wow.
I found this community a while back but still have not posted here. I really like the concept though, as a photographer who likes both color and monochrome I often wonder. Although lately I am not doing much editing. Or photography.
Ah, aside from the last one our preferences line up. It's some amazing country, I was just glad it was a buck and not a bear.
I've been following a certain daveks since the bad old days so I've known about this community since its inception but somehow never got around to posting in it until now. I tend to do way more monochrome than color, mainly because I can never get the color balance to my satisfaction but it's fun to occasionally play around with both. I feel ya, I'm prone to spells like that myself, life seems to have a way of getting in the way.
What a wonderful place and awesome shots @coloneljethro friend! Have a great weekend.
