Sonnet For A Past Self - original poetic text

Pome.png

Under night sky's silhouette, I whisper "change and pain".
Past life envelops me in gloom marked with regret.
I had to forge a new person, one who despised the old.
Memories etch sadness' haunting song.

Words echo through my inconstant mind.
My new self hated the person I was.
But now I'm no longer that person, made molten by fire,
fractured being, seeking comfort in the gentle glow.

And I hate the burden on my conscience,
the past that lingers on the edge of my sight.
Shimmer, hope. New path, beckon into the unknown.
The darkness dispels needless ascension.

New chapters begin life in the crucible of change.
A damaged spirit mended, set free in the twilight.
