Mucho gusto, soy Yenni Méndez, venezolana, nacida en Caracas y resido en el estado Miranda, de profesión turismologa e ilustradora de modas por convicción, te cuento un poco de mi: cuando estaba chama soñaba con ser Diseñadora de Modas pero al llegar a la época del liceo en el año 1995 me fuí por la mención de contabilidad porque no quería estar en laboratorios con experimentos de ciencias abriendo a ningún animalito de ranas ni nada por el estilo, me encantó aprender de leyes, administración, las pasantías de una reconocida marca de electrodomésticos como mi primer empleo a los 17 en un mundo adulto, me gradué de bachiller Mercantil y estaba con la duda ¿Que voy a estudiar ahora? ¿Contabilidad o Diseño de Modas?

Entonces una profesora querida me aconsejó: ¡estudia administración como carrera y cuando tengas ya tus ingresos propios reunes para que estudies luego diseño o lo que desees!. Metí mis opciones de carrera en ése entonces el Consejo Nacional de Universidades y pasaron 7 meses que no me llamaban ni nada, no quedé en donde quería estudiar y me dije: ¿Ahora que hago? bueno, por casquillos de amigos me dejé llevar y estudié informática y que va, no era lo mío, hice un semestre y luego me cambié a turismo, me fuí por esa área sin saber que carrizo era ni para qué servía, simplemente me fui a esa carrera según yo para no ver matemáticas…

Then a dear teacher advised me: "Study administration as a career and when you have your own income you can study design or whatever you want! Resulta que se ve matemáticas, presupuesto, contabilidad, estadística igual que en todas las carreras universitarias pero... ¿Sabes que? me enamoré profundamente del turismo, todo totalmente nuevo para mi, el sinónimo de turismo es servicio, saber servir, así que me gradué en la universidad a comienzos del milenio y he trabajado con amor en diferentes ámbitos de mi área: organización de eventos, capacitación, transporte ejecutivo, agencia de viajes entre otros, tanto a nivel público como privado, me enorgullece decir que tengo mas de 15 años de experiencia, he viajado buena parte del país compartiendo con los colegas prestadores de servicio en cada región, realizando alianzas estratégicas de ganar - ganar para fortalecer y dar un servicio de calidad total.

A principios del año 2010 hice un curso de orfebreria en joyas y aunque no lo terminé si aprendí a diseñar, calar, limar y lijar cada pieza, a transformar el metal en hermosas creaciones para dijes, anillos, zarcillos, collares… tanto que me atreví a participar para diciembre de ese año en la Feria Navideña del Ateneo de Caracas en el Stand de la Escuela con la que estudié, el resultado fue fantástico, un complejo bien laborioso, creativo, estresante por el tiempo justo para terminar mi colección de joyas elaboradas en plata totalmente a mano con cristales de swarovski, también unos anillos que a la gente le encantó, luego seguí por mi cuenta aprendiendo el arte de la bisutería a través de revistas, en la red y participé en otras ferias navideñas ya con emprendimiento propio.

Hace tres años, ordenando mi cuarto botando papeles viejos, encontré una reliquia : ¡Mi blog de diseños de moda de cuando tenía 16 años! grata sorpresa para mi, a mis 40 años reencontrarme con esa niña interna, ¡cuantos dibujos y recortes de anuncios de diseño! se me había olvidado por completo que existían, no cabía en mi asombro, en ese momento agarré lápiz y papel para ver que tal si podía plasmar una silueta femenina y ¡vaya que si! investigué a modo de la vieja escuela, buscando en libros, diccionarios que significaba el diseño de modas, luego indagué más en la red y descargue pdf relacionados al tema, me uní a grupos de facebook y hasta participé en un reto en instagram para el mes de octubre que todos los años se realiza, #fashioninktober por la diseñadora colombiana Laura Páez y a la gente le gustó y eso me animó, mi estilo es entre fashion y caricatura porque me divierte mucho, me encanta exagerar pestañas y estilizar atuendos, si quieres seguirme en instagram me consigues como @yenyen_2_7 .

Three years ago, tidying my room throwing away old papers, I found a relic: My fashion design blog from when I was 16 years old! pleasant surprise for me, at 40 years old to meet again with that inner child, so many drawings and clippings of design ads! I investigated in an old school way, looking in books, dictionaries what fashion design meant, then I investigated more on the net and downloaded pdfs related to the subject, I joined facebook groups and even participated in a challenge on instagram for the month of October that every year is done, #fashioninktober by the Colombian designer Laura Paez and people liked it and that encouraged me, my style is between fashion and cartoon because I have a lot of fun, I love to exaggerate eyelashes and stylize outfits, if you want to follow me on instagram you can find me as @yenyen_2_7 .

Actualmente trabajo en una empresa familiar, es todo lo relacionado a contabilidad y ahí mi papel es Asistente Administrativo, pero; si les digo la verdad, soy realmente utility como decimos aquí en Venezuela, limpio, hago las compras, atiendo a los clientes, los visito, a veces ayudo a revisar las computadoras, talleres de asesoría para los clientes con merienda incluida,talleres de motivación al personal y me dicen Gefa, sí, leiste bien, gefa con la letra G porque según ellos soy una gestora de la felicidad jajajaja!. Así que trabajo en oficina, sigo desempeñándome como Agente de Turismo y en mis tiempos libres dibujo o hago alguna bisutería.

Currently I work in a family business, it is all related to accounting and there my role is Administrative Assistant, but if I tell you the truth, I am really utility as we say here in Venezuela, I clean, I do the shopping, I attend to customers, I visit them, sometimes I help to check the computers, counseling workshops for customers with snack included, motivational workshops for staff and they call me Gefa, yes, you read well, gefa with the letter G because according to them I am a manager of happiness hahaha! So I work in an office, I continue to work as a Tourism Agent and in my free time I draw or make some jewelry.

Todo esto me lleva a lo siguiente y es que con la pandemia actual del Covid - 19 en tiempos de cuarentena he recordado un mensaje muy valioso de mi abuela materna que es el siguiente:
Una persona debe tener tres cosas en la vida:

Un título: te da la habilidad de defenderse muy bien en la vida, te da la habilidad de responder ante cualquier circunstancia o hecho que se te presente, de saber escuchar y responder con propiedad, es tu mejor herencia y nadie te lo puede quitar porque es tuyo.

Un oficio: en el momento que por circunstancias de la vida no puedas ejercer tu título entonces podrás trabajar con algún oficio creado por tus manos: panadería, peluquería, carpintería, confección, etc. Un oficio siempre honra y te sentirás orgulloso de ver algo realizado por ti bien hecho.

Un arte: porque te ayudará a despejar la mente cuando estés saturado por trabajo ya sea por tu título o oficio, puedes danzar, pintar, jugar ¡lo que desees!

A person should have three things in life:

A degree: it gives you the ability to defend yourself very well in life, it gives you the ability to respond to any circumstance or fact that comes your way, to know how to listen and respond properly, it is your best inheritance and no one can take it away from you because it is yours.

A trade: in the moment that by circumstances of life you can not exercise your degree then you can work with a trade created by your hands: bakery, hairdressing, carpentry, tailoring, etc.. A trade always honors and you will feel proud to see something well done by you.

An art: because it will help you to clear your mind when you are saturated by work either by your degree or trade, you can dance, paint, play, whatever you want!

Ahora como adulta entiendo cada frase, todo cobra sentido para mí y cada vez que puedo transmitir ese mensaje lo haré porque me parece importantísimo que todos puedan desarrollar esas tres herramientas valiosas para la vida. Ahora es el momento oportuno para multiplicarlo aquí en éste blog, aquí vas a conseguir principalmente el paso a paso de mi hermoso hobby que es el sketch de un diseño que me tiene muy entusiasmada,también algún tip, consejo y sugerencias a la hora de viajar por nuestro hermoso país, así como también la elaboración de joyería a través de la bisutería - orfebrería.
