Hello friends!
Yesterday was the last day of school. Yes, on June 24th. Unfortunately every year the summer break is shorer, BUT this does not mean that we can't live our vacation to the fullest! I've had a lot of obligations lately, of course at school and I haven't had much time to write, but now that I have a LOT of free time I hope you'll have a chance to read my blogs more than usual☺.
Do you know what else is celebrated on June 24th? Probably a very few of you have heard about Sânziene. In the Romanian mythology (Roman Dacia) they are good fairies from the iele class.
People in the western Carpathian Mountains celebrate the Sânziene holiday annually.I read somewhere about the Swedish Midsummer holiday and I think this is something very similar to it because it's believed to be a pagan celebration of the summer solstice in June☀️.
*The iele are feminine mythical creatures. Often they are described as fairies(zâne), with great seductive power over men, with magic skills and attributes similar to nymphs, in Greek mythology that live in the woods or on the plains, dancing around the fire🔥.
they are giving special powers to flowers💐 so on 24th June every flower becomes a medicinal plants. Nowadays, every family celebrates this holiday, so the women go on fields to pick Sânziene(Lady's Bedstraw) and make wreaths of them that are placed on the doors of the houses or worn on the head. In the past, girls who sought their destiny used to throw a flower on the roof of the house. If she stayed there, the girl would get married that very year, and if it fell, the girl would throw it again until she was trapped, only to know how many more years she had to wait. Some people believe that if the flower falls someone in that hose will die soon.
Also it's not a good thing though to be a male and walk at night during Sanziene Eve night, as that is the time when the fairies dance in the air.
This year my grandmother and I went to the field together and picked flowers, and we came home to make wreaths. Yesterday my cousin Bianca came and together we made some more wreaths and we put them on our heads and we decided to take some pictures while I explained to her who are Sânziene📸She was very curious and she loved the story.
I hope you had a chance to learn something new from my post and thank you for reading ❤
