I can redirect that energy to the things and people who matter in my life. Rather than trying to make the world a better place, maybe I should focus on being a better partner, uncle, brother, son, etc maybe I can focus on being a better version of myself.

I think this is the right perspective here. Looking at your view from a wholistical perspective, we can't change everything in the world far from us, it's gonna be draining but we can affect the world closer to us in our own little way, and that's if they truly needs the help. Life is supposed to be simple.
