Africa is blessed with varieties of delicious delicacies, Ogbono soup is one of them. I will be taking you through a step by step tutorial on how to make Ogbono soup.
~~ IRVINGIA NUTS / OGBONO SEEDS ~~
Irvingia nuts or Ogbono seeds as we call it over here in Nigeria, is enriched with protein and fat, widely enjoyed in Nigeria and some places in the world.
Its fast and easy to cook, which is why we decided to cook it this weekend, after missing its yummy taste for a long time.
As you can see, I will be cooking mine with crayfish. Crayfish has a unique taste when mixed in meals and gives out a lovely aroma.
Blend the Ogbono seeds and Crayfish together with a bleeder. The image above is the result after blending.
I will be cooking my Ogbono soup with meat in it.
- Wash and Boil your meat with salt
- Add your blended Ogbono seeds into the boiled meat water, with your meat in it.
- Add your blended pepper (Quantity depends on your ogbono)
- Stair very well
- Add your red oil
- Add little quantity of water to reduce the thickness of the ogbono
- Cover your pot and leave to heat for 5 to 7mins.
Your Ogbono soup is ready. I'm having mine with Semovita. Ogbono soup goes well with Fufu/Eba/Wheat/Semovita/Amala/Pounded Yam.
I hope this tutorial was insightful, happy cooking.
