When health messes up with you

in GEMS4 hours ago

I’m okay.
My mind? Also okay.

My immune system? …not soooo much 😒

But hey…. this is life. Nothing new for me. Nothing critical. I was just half dying the last few days. Casual stuff, you know.

And listen, it’s not even the end of December! Winter officially starts on December 21, and this is already the third time in a few months that I’m lying in bed like a dramatic potato. Again.
I KNOW, I KNOW. My body hates cold weather.
I love cold weather.
Clearly, my body did not get the memo. Pffff!!!

Because of my health problems, I take pills.
Every. Freaking. Day.
And honestly, I’m grateful…they help. Of course, sometimes my body gets overwhelmed and a seizure can happen… but much less since I started taking them. So yes, pills = friends 💊
Then came biological medication for Crohn’s disease. Doctors said:
“Your immune system will not be strong.”

Great. Fantastic. Love that for me.
It helps my Crohn’s…big win 👍
But for other stuff?
My immune system is like: “Nah, I’m tired.”

Yes, yes — I take vitamin C.
And probably I should take A, B, D… or honestly the whole alphabet 😒😂
It helps a little. But clearly not enough.

I try many things to improve my immune system, but cold days?
Yeah… they win most of the time.

So now the big question:
How the hell should I go skiing?
Or make snow angels?
Or build a snowman?!

Okay, first… I need snow.
But IF there is snow in the next weeks… does that mean I should stay inside?!
Ugh. Oooffff… yeah, not a nice word, I know.

So… let’s talk about the immune system and why it’s playing games with me 🎮
The immune system is like my body’s security team. Its job is to protect me from viruses, bacteria, and other troublemakers. When it works well, it keeps me healthy and lets me live without too many sick days.

It’s very important…without it, even a small cold could become a big problem.
So yes, we love the immune system ❤️

(Jeaaah…I used filter, don't worry 😂)

But in my case… it’s a bit too calm.
I have Crohn’s disease and epilepsy, and I take lamotrigine, Levebon, and Stelara.
Especially Stelara tells my immune system:
“Relax. Chill. Stop attacking your own body.”
Great for Crohn’s 👍
Not so great for fighting infections.
My immune system is not broken… it’s just on low volume mode, not full rock-concert mode 🎸😅
It works. It’s just… very polite.

So what can I do to help it?

Sleep well (sleep = magic) 😴
Eat healthy food (yes, even vegetables) 🥦
Move my body every day (walking from kitchen to sofa counts, right?)
Wash my hands like a hygiene superhero 🦸‍♂️
Reduce stress (my immune system HATES drama)

I can’t turn my immune system into a superhero… but I can support it every day.
And honestly? It’s trying.
And so am I 💪
This time my mood was really down.
My enthusiastic side? Broken.
Writing? Impossible.
Reading? Oh no no… my brain refused to accept words.

I stared at the TV all day.
My eyes are probably swollen now 🤔
BUT…I watched Stranger Things in peace, so… win 😂

So yes. I’m alive.
I’m okay for now.
Maybe I’ll just stay inside the whole winter? Hmm… 😂
Guys…fight this cold weather.
PLEASE wear warm clothes.

Why am I saying this?
Because recently I saw people walking their dogs in short T-shirts.
In winter.

Are you Thor or WHAT?!? 😂

All the best ❤️

With love, @tinabrezpike❤️

Oh, I love cold weather too, winter is my favourite season, the atmosphere just hits different when almost everything about nature comes to a standstill and turns inside. Not much outdoor activities though, no snow, just strong winds, sometimes. I hope your immune system holds strong throughout winter and you recover soon :)
