Yesterday was such a fun day because it was time to see my girls again! And not just any hangout – Lu has officially become a doctor, and she moved into the house of her dreams! So of course, we had to celebrate her big achievement and the opening of her new home.
All 5 of us girls, plus our partners, gathered at her place. The first thing we did? Popped some good champagne and gave her a gift, and then the real fun began! This was the very first party in the new house, so naturally, we had to test if we could be loud without the neighbors complaining. And let’s be honest, when us girls are together, it’s LOUD. I’m pretty sure people could hear our laughter from 5 kilometers away! Sometimes I forget just how much I enjoy being with my girls. After 25 years of knowing each other, we’re still so close. We've been together since childhood, sharing dreams and secrets, and always supporting each other.
Who would’ve thought all of us would reach such amazing goals in life, and yet still be the same girls who’ve always had a bit of that fun, childish madness in us? Lu especially. She was always the wild one in our group, the one doing the craziest stuff. And now look at her – she’s a doctor! A doctor of hematology, no less.
When she told us she was officially a doctor, all these memories of her from when we were kids flashed through my head. It’s crazy to see her go from that fearless, fun girl to this incredible, smart woman. But even with all her success, she’s still the same Lu. She’ll always be the one who’s a little crazy, always there for me, always ready to listen.
Her house was like our second home growing up. Her parents let us hang out there all the time, staying up late into the night. How many times did we tell our parents we were having a movie night at Lu’s, but really, her dad would sneak us out to parties and pick us up whenever we wanted? Our parents never knew we weren’t actually at her place, but at the disco!
I talked to my mom yesterday, and she laughed about how mad she used to get when I snuck over to Lu’s without telling her. She thought Lu was always getting us into trouble because her parents let her do everything! But now, looking back, she realized that Lu and all my friends were amazing, intelligent girls. My mom said she’s so happy we’re all still together and proud of how far we’ve come. Who would’ve thought that we, the same girls always getting into mischief, would end up achieving so much?
Now, let me just take a moment to brag. My friend is officially a doctor of hematology! Hematology is all about blood – studying it, treating diseases related to it, like anemia, blood clots, and even cancers like leukemia. Blood is pretty much the key to everything in our bodies, so she’s out there saving lives by treating these conditions. How cool is that?
I’m beyond proud of her, and I just know we’ll be friends forever. My girls, I love you all, and after all these years, we’re still as close as ever. Here’s to us – the best friends anyone could ask for!
