I'm fascinated by the thought of extraterrestrial life. As you've mentioned, the universe is just so vast, that the opposite of that just seems so improbable.

The fact that it's actually just not worth it to use excess energy to establish contact with the earth, is a great, potentially valid point. Throw in the mix being attacked or chased by our military forces, meh. Why? Haha.
