There is a need for us as human beings to reflect on our conscious and unconscious dealings.
Often times, we engage in things unconsciously but the objective of those who made us engage in them is clear and straight forward. Whenever they push these narratives to us and we just follow them without first of all making a pause to see whether we are consciously engaging in it, we simply give them power over our thought pattern.
Have you for once asked if our dear education is getting the recognition and accolades it deserves?
The bedrock and future of any country is her education. It is what ensures continuity, sustainability of any country. Without it, many countries would have crumbled.
It is an eye opener that exposes us to unending possibility and importantly, our unwavering voice during oppression or what appears to be exploitation.
The importance of education cannot be overemphasized, however, in the recent years we have started downplaying its importance.
Money seems to be rated higher and higher than the value that comes with being educated. Some even push the narrative that those working to get money and those schooling to be employed or employ others are also looking for money. In reality, both have advantages but the educated fellow is recognized societally as he is expected to behave in a more socially accepted manner.
Having said this, in today's society, quiz, debates, educational programs are becoming things of the past. Other things are being pushed to our faces and somehow we embrace them without knowing we are indirectly killing our educational system.
Have you seen a quiz or debate recently in your locality? How much was the reward for first, second and third? Have you compared it to other narratives pushed to us on TV with multiple sponsors? How many millions, endorsement, fame, recognition and the rest were accorded to the winners?
Some how we are not seeing it but these things are there. It sometimes becomes a mountain for parents when children choose to do other things rather than read and be diligent with their studies because what they see everytime when they on the TV is not close to what parents are telling them to do.
If we allow this to continue, it begs the question of what kind of future we are going to have as a people, family, country.
Don't forget, we always call our children leaders of tomorrow but with no good examples to see, how can they possibly lead right?
It is important we get it right now and understand that education is not just about reading or learning, it is a voice, it is a power, it is a tool to make us, our nations better in all ramifications.
We shouldn't forget that it is with education that we can talk about science, politics, technology, doctors, pilots and the rest. Without it, we cannot achieve those things.
So let's push the narrative back and tell the world that education cannot be negotiated for anything. It should be gotten first and let other things follow or done side by side. If anything must be abandoned, it should never be education. It is the bedrock of every nation. It is on it that the continuity of the nation rested.
Let's all support educational programs like debates, quiz, spelling bee and make sure it's most rewarding compared to other narratives.
Thank you for your time.
