Autovault - MoonKarts Heart of the Game

MoonKarts, running for almost a year now, the Auto Vault and Academy mechanics stand out as key pillars of gameplay and economy—offering players not just racetrack excitement, but also strategic layers to grow and optimise their in-game assets. Let’s dive into how these systems operate, and how you can make the most of them.

Auto Vault – Stake Cards to Generate Fuel

The Auto Vault is essentially the engine room for one of Moon Karts’ core resources: fuel. Rather than simply earning fuel through race wins, the game enables players to stake unused cards—be they drivers, car parts, or other collectibles—to generate fuel passively. The concept is elegant: each card you stake contributes to a pooled fuel-generation rate, and the rarer or more specialised the card, the higher its contribution.

Of course, there’s more beneath the surface. The Auto Vault requires not only cards but also a token stake of the game’s ecosystem currency: Scripts. In effect, for each extra card slot you want to activate in the Auto Vault, you first stake 10 Script tokens. Over time, you’ll be able to enhance or upgrade the vault further using Scripts and COLONY tokens—expanding your capacity and fuel output.

An important gameplay consideration: cards need to be staked for a minimum duration before fuel accrual begins, and unstaking them before the end of that period triggers a cooldown—meaning you can’t immediately flip cards in and out for purely short-term gain.

Fuel Usage & Management – More Than Just Generation

Fuel in Moon Karts is not a trivial side resource—it’s essential for participating in multiplayer races, which are the heart of the play-to-earn experience. However, players cannot transfer or trade fuel, and their fuel-storage capacity is limited. If you generate more fuel than you can store, the excess is simply lost. That means the generation part (via the Auto Vault) must be balanced with how much you’ll realistically consume via racing.

What’s more, the type, rarity and level of the cards you actually use in a race influence how much fuel you’ll burn. Better cards mean better performance—but they also mean higher fuel costs. So the strategic layer is two-fold: you build up your vault and fuel generation, but you also need to manage how you deploy your assets so you don’t run out of fuel when it matters.

Academy – A Strategic Layer Coming Soon

While the Auto Vault is active, the Academy is positioned as the next evolution of Moon Karts’ asset-staking economy. Though it’s described as “coming soon,” its mechanics are already clear: stake cards in the Academy dashboard to earn Airdrop Points. Over time, those points unlock airdrop rewards—which may include new drivers, boosters, car parts and other in-game assets.

Interestingly, the Airdrop Points themselves are non-transferable, and receiving an airdrop will deduct from your point balance. This gives the Academy a different flavour from the Auto Vault: not simply fuel generation, but strategic asset accumulation, whereby staking pays off in rare or valuable items instead of just resource flow.

For any player wanting to excel in Moon Karts, understanding the Auto Vault and preparing for the Academy is crucial. The Auto Vault rewards foresight: staking cards and tokens now gives you sustained fuel generation, which translates into greater race participation and earning potential. The Academy, once live, will add another layer—staking for potential high-value assets, not just fuel.
