Hi Hivers!
For those of you who don't know - I am a full time voice artist and along with various advertising and educational workI voice, I get to narrate a LOT of audiobooks.
Once is a while one of those MANY books stands out from the rest and its at these rare moments I get the urge to share with you.
Today I want to share a really awesome children's book with you. You know the kind of well written classy fantasy that is as much fun for the parent as the children? I was an avid reader from a very young age, devouring paperback books in a couple of days. Adventure stories mostly but as I grew I scooped up every great fantasy story that showed up in my book club. That's how we got hold of all the latest books back in the 1960's and 1970's. Pre internet, pre mobile phone world which I remember with a deep fondness.
So the club sent a list in the post every month with the latest recommendations. It was wonderful for me as I lived in a rural area with no book shops for MILES!!!! LOL I eagerly awaited the newsletter every month but of course with very little pocket money under 10 years old I still relied mostly on my mum to buy me lots of paperbacks! But I enjoyed saving up to buy my own whenever I could.
So long story short - (probably a pun there somewhere) I read a lot of great books growing up - and want to tell you about the latest great children's book I have come across.
Did you ever read THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH written by Norton Juster, with illustrations by Jules Feiffer, first published in 1961?
It's one I grew up with and absolutely LOVE. Well this one reminds me a little of THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH.
As is the case with all great fantasy stories, this would make a great movie. I hope that happens sometime in the future!

I am sharing it with all the young people I know who love a good fantasy - it has dragons, quests, battles , fantastical characters, tearful moments and some really good laughs!
