My Animal Photography: Rabbit

in GEMS6 years ago (edited)

This morning I noticed a rabbit hanging around the backyard nibbling at something he likes to eat on the ground.

This rabbit’s fur is not white, nor brown. Here in Eastern Canada, between seasons of spring and summer, the rabbit’s fur is two toned to match the environment. In the following photo he blends quite nicely with the landscape.

The rabbit’s fur changes color with our four seasons. It is a survival mechanism, camouflaging them from predators.

In winter their fur turns white and in summer it is brown. In fall and spring the fur in two-toned white and brown. This rabbit’s fur is slowly turning a brown color with the onset of summer.

The rabbit was finding something of interest near the rhubarb patch and I was able to get these photos of him this morning before he hopped away, heading for the forest.

What a cute little rabbit @redheadpei and soooo fluffy. I didn't realize that rabbits change color according to the four seasons. A very effective survival mechanism. No wonder they can breed 'like rabbits, as they can avoid their predators successfully. .'

Thanks Trudee! Changing fur color is a great protection from predators but there’s not a lot of rabbits around like there used to be.

You probably have to be very patient in order to take such photos.

Thanks for stopping by. I have to be a little patient but sometimes the rabbit will hang around near the house.

Cute bunny! :-)

What an adorable little intruder. No wonder you wanted to take photos of it! He`s so cute!

Howdy redheadpei! Wonderful shots of that little guy. I think the camouflaging thing they do is so cool!

Afternoon Cowboy! it great how nature naturally tries to protect them with the camouflaging of the fur in different seasons.

Howdy today redheadpei! I agree, it's amazing. Spring has come there now and it is warm outside? How are your virus numbers looking? Ours are going up in TX but we're still reopening for business. I hope that doesn't back fire.

Howdy Cowboy! On PEI the virus had only affected 26 people and no one died. A lot of checkpoints at the the bridge and ferry not running to Nova Scotia yet. We are starting to reopen some business but still a lot of precautions.

Like you, I hope it doesn’t backfire and a second wave comes. From what I hear on the news this virus may have come out of a lab....scary stuff!

Howdy today redheadpei! Yes, I think the bioweapons lab in Wuhan accidently let it escape, I don't think it was intentional, at least not at this point but they might uncover some nefarious stuff, who knows.

No one has died in PEI, that's really good! I don't know what the overall Canada numbers are but we hit 70,000 dead today in the U.S. so that's kinda depressing.

Morning Cowboy! One has to wonder what they are cooking up in these labs that could kill us all.

There has been under 4,000 that have died here in Canada. I saw the numbers in the States. It really hits the big cities like New York.

Yes, I'm so glad I don't live in a big city! I agree, if we knew what they were developing in these labs we'd be horrified.

Thanks @yusmi. I appreciate your lovely comment. :)
