It’s still early morning and the sun is starting to shine and casting shadows across the driveway.

My Sublime Sunday starts out with a walk around the yard. First is to checked out the lilac bush to see if the buds were ready to open. It shouldn’t be much longer before the bush is alive with vibrant pinkish-purple flowers.

Lilacs have the sweetest smell and leave a lingering fragrance in the air once the blossoms appear.

Wood piled up for next year ready to be moved into the wood shed. Hubby has been busy getting it organized.

I went down into the forest a short way and came across this old tree that had fallen over many years ago.

A tree stump with interesting activity starting with the green moss.

Back In the yard I checked out the bush at the side of the house. The buds looks ready to pop with a couple more sunny days.

The rhubarb is sprouting up but it will have to be much bigger before I will use some stalks from the plant.

I’ve been babying this little patch of rhubarb for a couple years and it is growing.

Rhubarb, with the addition of strawberries, make a lovely pie but I also like rhubarb stewed into a quick jam that tastes great on warm homemade biscuits.

The rabbits are still hopping around and enjoying nibbling on the new green grass.

What’s a Sublime Sunday without a little treat? My treat after my walk is going to be a piece of the fudge I made last night.

I’ve been cooking and thinking of food too much in this pandemic. :)

Have a great Sublime Sunday!

That you never heard of rhubarb, though upon searching it. I did find a recipe for a strawberry rhubarb crisp. it looks pretty good. If I ever get some time off. Going to have to try. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks @dreamingirwin and for the rehive. Growing up on a farm. Rhubarb was something most folks had in their garden. It is one of the things that comes up every year without replanting. It's sour on it's own but adding sugar. Pinch of salt, small amt.of water and Tblp.lemon juice, then stewing it on the stove makes a nice jam. Strawberries added make it even better in my opinion and a crisp is great.

I'm willing to bet it had probably has some really good nutritional value to it too. Would be fun to see if it has any natural healing properties.

Rhubarb is also a great source of vitamin K1, which is important for blood clotting and bone health. A half cup of cooked rhubarb provides more than one-third of the recommended dietary intake of vitamin K1, along with two grams of fiber (which helps prevent colorectal cancer), some calcium and vitamin C.

That's awesome. I recently bought a book called The forgotten remedies something like that. It's in my stack of books that I mean to get through. I figured it was a very useful book to have cuz it's all about plants and their natural healing properties. Before the epidemic I had already started looking into that.I use celery to fight off a kidney stone that I got from taking a medication without enough water, and dandelions for detoxification. It's funny the directions life takes you.

The book sounds interesting. it's always good to try natural healing remedies before other medications if it's not a life threatening situation.

It looks a like a lovely and Sublime Sunday! Great photos!

Thanks Keith @keithboone. I’m glad you like them.

I just heard the terrible news that one of the snowbird’s jet went down in your province and the woman pilot was killed and another man injured.

Yes, it's very sad. I just watched the video.

Oh!!! The lilacs are coming! The lilacs are coming!! They have always been my favorite spring bush, mostly for the soft sweet aroma that permeates the air! Mine are just finishing up and I must say, it was a good year for them. I am looking forward to seeing yours.

The bunny is sweet and I just found one living under the chicken coop over at the house on the Shore. It looks like an Easter Bunny, so I set a live trap up and my neighbor over there will check it for me because I am home now, but, just know someone is missing their pet.

Holy wow, Jo!!! That is enough firewood for next year already!

I want to thank you for the wonderful walk. It truly is magnificent up there and yes!!! The fudge looks yummy!!! I have been making more yummy stuff since the lockdown! If they don't lift it soon, I'll be rolling around!

Haha my dear Denise, the idea of you rolling around gave me a chuckle. I don’t think you would ever put on weight as you are always busy. I will be rolling around if I don’t stop eating the fudge. 😄

Your season is ahead of mine but the sweet smelling lilacs should be in full bloom soon.

Thanks so much for your generosity Denise. Have a great week ahead! ❤️

Thanks @hivebuzz for this! ❤️

You're welcome @redheadpei! ❤️❤️

Love the buds and blossoms Jo and always the bunnies! That fudge looks yummy..have a piece for me! looks like hubby has quite the start on firewood for next year. When I was riding past Loch Raven I spotted a lot of trees that had either fallen or were cut down. I think it was a combination of the two but I thought that if someone could get to it then they would have a windfall of firewood. It was in an area right on the road so I think it will probably be staying where it is. Seeing that stacked wood made me think of that..lol. 💖

You would be most welcome to have some of this fudge Dee. I’m having a hard time resisting another piece.😄 Maybe I’ll just go for it. 😂

There’s been a lot of downed trees here after Doiron and the winter winds. Hubby has the wood to keep him busy. He seems to enjoy working with getting it ready for next year.

I’m happy you liked the buds and the bunny. ❤️

You are very fortunate to live on a property where you can enjoy such open spaces and such picturesque surroundings. It must be great to see the difference when each season comes around. Love your post @redheadpei

Thanks so much Trudee @trudeehunter. I been used to the 4 seasons and it keeps it interesting. ❤️😊

I'm sure it does Jo.

So it seems you have had a nice morning walk around your home.
I'm looking forward to see the lilac bush blooming soon, but I'm glad that I can't smell it. I know, that most people like the smell of this bush (German: Flieder), but to be honest, it is a smell which I don't really like. I don't mind it, but if I can avoid to smell it, I will ;)

Your Hubby has done a very good job and has been busy that you'll have a warm and cozy home in Winter :)

I love rhubarb compote and rhubarb cake - the more sour the better ;)
I had to google the German word Kompott and it's funny that compote is almost the same.

Have a nice afternoon and evening, Jo 🙂

Hi Johann. I did enjoy a walk outside this morning.

My rhubarb patch is small but will get bigger. A friend used to give me rhubarb from her garden and I would freeze some for the winter. Unfortunately she passed away in March and I don’t know if her husband would be as generous. I wouldn’t ask anyway.

I made a rhubarb compote and enjoy it on biscuits. The ones you make with baking powder, flour , milk, shortening. Interesting some German words are close To English.

Thanks for your kindness always. Have a nice evening :)

Good morning Jo,

I'm sorry that you lost your friend.

Your rhubarb (German: Rhabarber) will grow. As far as I can remember our plants at home in my mum's garden have been huge.
I have no idea how to make biscuits or so ;) I do cook sometimes, but I almost always need a recipe and frankly speaking, I have no idea what I'mdoing ;) ... my wife cooks and I eat 😉

I wish you a very nice Monday 🙂

Cheers and !BEER

Thanks for your condolences Johann. I do miss my friend. Her house was only a few kms from me (on my way to Montague) and she always invited me to stop by and then processed to fill the table with food I was expected to eat. . :)

You are so funny! “my wife cooks and I eat.” 😂

The baking powder biscuits were something my Dad used to make and his mother before him. so I keep up the tradition. I use them also when I make strawberry compote. I’m sure they are made in your country but a different name.

Ok, enough talk of cooking but I’m glad you can cook somethings.

Have a wonderful week. 🤗

Always the good ones leave us first.

Good morning Jo,

or I could say I make the dirt and she cleans up 😉

I can cook enough that I wouldn't starve 😉 but you are right, enough of talking about cooking, because there's not much more than I can say.

Have a great day too 😁

Cheers and!BEER

Johann, I think you have it made.😄

Another quiet sunny day here on the East coast Today is actually a holiday ( Victoria Day) but every day runs into the next with the restrictions.

I hope you are staying safe. We haven’t had any new virus cases in weeks and slowly certain things are opening.

I haven’t found an elf for the ‘E’ yet but something somewhat like one. 🤔

Good evening Jo,

we have had a quite nice and warm day too, but for the next days they predict rain - we'll see if they are right ;)

I assume you mean Queen Victoria - a holiday on Monday is nice, but we have a holiday on Thursday, what means I'm not going to work on Friday - looong weekend 🙂

I haven't found any E's yet, but the E challenge hasn't even begun yet ;)
A real Elf would be very special, but also something somewhat like one - maybe a gnome or a troll ;)

We haven't had any new cases neither in Carinthia, but to be honest, I haven't been interested in any Corona news in the past few days. The first children are back at school and we have had the first "normal" working day today.

Wish you a very nice evening, Jo 🙂

Cheers and !BEER
