I think that one thing that attracted me to the book is the fact that the title echoed my lifetime predicaments to an extent.
The story is about a lady who grew up with a constant belief that she was not lovable because she was nothing like her parents and even her little sister in terms of body shape and ways of reasoning. Her parents who would go to any length to make her feel worthless, always compared her to just anything they hate.
She would have had to live with her differences as an only child of her sister who was originally a mistake came along.
Victoria, who was named after an ugly queen pulled through life with the constant struggle of believing in herself, keeping and shielding her elder sister, and letting go of the echoes of her bad childhood.
Her constant struggle was keeping her weight in check, finding life, and getting a true lover.

Would Victoria achieve all this?
